As I struggle with the search function, maybe you guys can make suggestions for me. Both my neighbor and I have 2016 Kubota tractors; mine is the 2501, his the 3301; both are HST with FEL and Box Blades. We would now like having rear hydraulics on both units and mostly for use with box blades but also for additional equipment we might buy and share with one another. I talked to our Kubota dealer about having them install something but seems they know little to nothing concerning our L models. Any chance you guys know about doing this on the L models? if so, we would appreciate any info very much!

Should not be a problem. Kubota offers up to three rear remote valves as a factory option.
My dealer also installed a top and tilt kit but I don't know if those were a Kubota part or not.

Good the hear this; now if my dealer whom I like knew something about installing them. I think factory install is quite different than dealer install sometimes...should have thought of having this before, maybe could have ordered my tractor already set up for it.

A HydrauLink Top Link is very helpful when operating a Box Blade, Rear Blade, Landscape Rake or a Roto-tiller. Easy to swap between neighbors. About $250.

Think long and hard about just how many remotes you want and what your future needs may be. I have 3. And while not all at the same time, I do use all 3. Two are tied up with a top and side link. But its nice not to have to unhook one of them when I put the drawbar on and pull the transport disc (hydraulic wheels). And will sometime in the future be getting a rear blade with hydraulic angle.

Now there is really only 3 options.

1. Let dealer do everything. Probably run you about $1200+ for a single remote and $400 more for each additional.
2. Get parts from the dealer and do it yourself. Probably cost you ~$800 for a single and $350-$400 each additional
3. Buy your own aftermarket parts and do it all yourself. I did all of mine on my MX and came in under $500 for 3. But this isnt for a beginner.

I'm with LD1. I use all three on my Kubota. I use all two on my Ford. You can't have too many.

We don't know your mechanical abilities so don't take anything we say the wrong way.

I'd go to my dealer and talk to the parts department about "Whole Goods" kits. Kubota makes them for your tractor. That's what the dealer would use to add rear remotes. The Whole Goods kits come with everything you need in regards to parts. They also come with excellent instructions including pictures of the install.

If you are mechanical at all you can install rear remotes. This would save you 40-50% of the cost.

If your dealer can't help you with this, try another dealer. If going out of your locale and ordering online I'd suggest Messick's. They are a sponsor here. I've ordered several parts from them. If you are unsure about what you need, call them.

Here's a link.

I ordered my Kubota with three and I think the dealer installed them. One other option at the time was if you want any of them with a 'float' position.

Yep. Depending on the tractor, it will come with the minimum. Usually one. If you purchase it with more the dealer will install them. That's why I discussed "Whole Goods" kits. That's what the dealer uses to add remotes.

Sometimes the Whole Goods kits offer options as to the type of valves added. Normally tractors come with a SCV (Self Cancelling Valve). Then if more are added they are usually Float Valves.

LDI and OVRSZD - I used to be pretty handy when on the farm but that was long ago. Being a retired electrical engineer, I haven't spent much time in the old shop for many years so I will want to have a quality dealer do the work. Mostly I mow our old pasture, maintain 2000 ft of driveway with some veggie gardens thrown in and using a walk behind tiller for that. We have a trac hoe when needed for clearing some old stumps to reclaim some ground plus doing water pipes for our trees. I bought this L model because my Dad's stuff is just old and pretty worn out now. I'd like to add top and tilt for the box blade plus have hydraulics for a PTO flail mower that I can move left or right for fences and mowing between the Xmas tree rows etc...When asking my K-dealer last fall about this he did not seem to know much at that time, maybe this has changed now....If having the hose connections in the rear, can I switch between the top and tilt and the flail mower? or do I need separate hoses for each? I won't be tilting the mower, just the box blade. Thanks for the help on this, really appreciate this site...

Not too far thank goodness. My salesman is a good person and I would like to be a faithful and give him another shot once I have a good understanding of what is needed then ask the right questions. This dealer has been selling Kubota for many years so hard to imagine them not knowing this stuff. Sometimes it is just miscommunication or, maybe I asked the wrong questions or person the first time...Asking you guys here makes me more informed so that in itself will help lots! If this all works out, I may have to send you guys my Wife's chocolate cookies!

You can look in the Kubota Wholegoods catalog (google, you'll find it) to get information on the kits available from Kubota and their pricing. Any dealer can order them.

A couple years ago I started a thread about putting a kit on my L3200, which is identical to your 2501 except for engine and a couple other minor details. That ought to give you an idea of the process. The L3301 is a slightly different tractor (more updates when the 01 models came out) and probably takes different part numbers, but install should be similar.

Yes, "Whole Goods" kits are the Key words when talking to the dealer. If they still don't know what you are talking about you most certainly should try a different dealer. The Parts department should be able to tell you the cost of the kit. Then the Service department should be able to tell you the cost of installation.

Here's my parts prices from Kubota for my L4330:

1) L8305 Base Kit and First Lever---$470.00
2) L8304 Float Detent Valve (x3)---$890.00 --3 VALVES
3) L8306 Second Valve Stack Kit---$235.00
4) L8307 Third Valve Stack Kit-----$235.00

The "Base kit" includes the hydraulic take-off block to replace the blank plate on the tractor, hard lines to the valves, hoses to the rear quick connects, and all mounting hardware including a rear "bulkhead" for the quick connects. The levers are fabricated to fit in the existing factory cutouts for them in the fender. Non float valves cost a little less. This is everything needed except for your top and tilt cylinders. I got those from Brian at FitRite.

Well everyone, I finally got someplace on what is needed for my L2501 rear hydraulics. After talking to three different dealerships and finding just one who knows all the requirements, everything is now on order. Three different dealers having three different parts prices but two could not give me an install cost for some reason. The third one charges slightly more for parts but answered all questions with great expertise but before I ordered, they had me talk with their hydraulic mechanic who does all their installs and hydraulic repairs where necessary to explain everything to me about installation along with his labor time. Expensive yes, but not being an expert on this stuff I feel in good hands now. Thanks to everyone for the help, will get back here h a report after getting everything working plus a photo or two...

Thought it time for an update on my three rear hydraulics project on the new L2501 HST. After talking to three dealers, only #3 seemed willing to be involved and although I like all of them, #3 wanted my business more plus knowing exactly what is involved telling me they do them often enough to know what is required. I met with their hydraulics mechanic who explained everything while showing me another unit he was installing both top and tilt on. After placing my order, all parts are now at the dealer after shipping from several locations across the USA so will be getting them tomorrow. - Something their parts manager shared with me concerning parts that may have some future concern is, that Kubota is working on emptying their parts inventories and perhaps closing their nationwide parts storage facilities around the USA, evidently wanting their dealers to store parts instead. Anyone heard of this? seems this cost would be huge for dealers, especially the smaller dealerships. Would this mean customers would be waiting longer as more ordered parts would need to come from Japan as opposed to dealer shelves? Please tall me this is bogus!

I haven't heard that but it doesn't surprise me.

Friend of mine has a Massey. Needs a part for the FEL joystick. Has to be ordered from Europe. 10-15 business days.
