The BX mowers, both the 54" & 60" are fully suspended mowers. When properly adjusted the 4 anti-scalp wheels should be approx 1/2" off the ground at whatever depth setting the mower is set to. They should never be in full contact with the ground. Haveing the fully suspended deck was the clincher for me going with a
BX23 over a
B7610 as mowing is my machines primary function.
As for R&R'ing the mower on a BX. It's very easy. It takes me approx 10 minutes to do either. I don't need any tools either. I take it off during the winter and use those mower-axles to store it upright. Makes servicing of the deck much easier also.
Set the depth guage to the lowest setting, turn the anti-scalp wheels from front to rear to side to side. Lower the mower. Disconnect the front mount then disconnect the mower from the lift arms by pulling the lock pins back to disconnect them from the mower. Disconnect the PTO then roll the mower out. A 54" will roll straight out whilst the 60" has to roll out at an angle. Reverse the proceedure to mount. It's really very easy and gets easier with practice. I changed out those round locking clips on the anti scalp wheels to straight pins with the curved locking clip, same type of clip used to lock a trailor hitch, and they make adj'ing the anti-scalp wheels a piece of cake.
With the exception of the
B7510 Turf Special which uses a BX style fully suspended deck, the B series tractors all use ground contact MMM'ers.
I like Toolguys solution. Looks like it's just what the grass-doctor ordered /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The day may come when when I'm tool'n around the humble abode in an air conditioned fully appointed
