I smashed a tail light on my BX23 a while back. $17 for a new light, no problem. Today I broke out one lens of the same light. Went to buy the lens. No way, you have to buy the whole light for another $17. I will replace all of the tail lights with something that I can get parts for. Even the bulb was special. I have also cracked the head light lens. I understand the only way that you can replace it is to buy an entire headlight assy. for about $150. I would like to keep my tractor looking good like a Kubota should, but I bought it to work, not just set in the shed. If you work a tractor, things get damaged, and I'll be ****** if I'll let Kubota rip me off on cosmetic parts. It'll just have to look like a piece of junk. I will not recommend any body to buy a Kubota just because of their parts policy.

If you are into fixing they do offer some nice glues that if not broke to bad and if all the piceces are there to glue together.

I can't think of many light assembly's that you can buy the parts for other then a bulb. Many parts today in different applications are basically disposable today.

The model B20 series might be a better tractor for your operation.

I don't mean to hijack but Kubota isn't the only one.

Came out of a store the other day to find the right outside rear view mirror on my Chevy truck was broken. Just the plastic housing, mind you, none of the internals or glass were broken. These are the power extendable, heated, turn signal included mirrors. I won't make you scroll down to find out how much it costs to have it replaced. $650 for the part, $35 installation, $40 taxes. $725 and change.

I feel your pain.

Darn Fan, you beat me to it. I bought one of those top links from Tisco. Great length for the BX. I would not pay $76 for a top link. If you can weld (I can't) I have heard of many guys getting their toplinks at TSC, cut 2 inches oout of the middle and weld it back together. Voila, shorter top link.

As for the head and tail lights. You might want to look into fabbing up some metal mashe covers to protect those bad boys. For $170 and $15 a pop, it might be a worthwhile investment.

How are you breaking these lights, if you don't mind me asking.?

They make several sizes of the inexpensive Cat 1 top links. I got, IIRC, a 9" barrel length and a 12" to fit all my applications. No reason to chop a long one to make it shorter ... then again, no reason not to either I guess :)

You say you won’t recommend Kubota because of parts prices but all the dealers are the same way. I have Kubota, John Deere and Caterpiller rigs and parts are all expensive. Heck it’s that same model the automotive companies follow also. I once read that a ford escort could be bought new for $13,000 but if you bought the parts separately it would cost over $38,000. This last week I needed a new glow plug relay for my F350, the dealer wanted $130, napa $62 and international $28. Dealers charge a lot for the convenience of stocking just the right item.

Anyways good luck getting those lights fixed. It looks like TBN members have some good leads on how to get similar parts cheaper.

Its cheaper to stock and handle entire assembiles than to do it as seperate pieces. You'd pay $6 for 1/5th of the assembly, or $12 for the entire thing. Its simple.

Generic parts are always cheaper. We sell a Case IH toplink for $17.
B500220B Case CAT 1 Top Link

Now this is not the same build quality as Kubota's toplink, however you can almost buy 4 of them.

All dealers be it tractor, car, or truck dealers will be spendy.

My Kubota radiator and plastic shroud cost just under $400. BTW that was just the part cost I did all the labor.
