Tractor
jinma
I'm looking at a new tractor, i currently have a jinma 28hp with loader and bh. It currenlty is in my garage waiting for me to reassemble after fixing an oil leak. Most of my work will be some bucket and BH work, no grass issues. I've been looking at the kubota 3200 and the equivelent jd. I'm leaning toward the kubota, but its hard not to go with the JD. any thoughts

Thanks

Kevin

L3200 or B3200? Either way the comparable is a JD 3032e and the JD doesn't offer a backhoe - even aftermarket. Save the long debate of a thread and just buy the Kubota.

I've owned 2- JD's and put over 6500 hrs. on them. I also own a Kubota with under 200 hrs. , It's NOT JD Quality.

Both very good quality. Buy the color you like best.

For me, it's been Orange since 1984. :D

I saw a guy at Atwoods Farm Supply with a trailer load of hydraulic, like 3 full pallets of 5 gallon buckets. Another guy was talking to him and asked if he had a JD because he had so much oil.
He mentioned that he had a photo of a JD on his wall and every morning he had to clean up an oil spill under the picture.
I dont know if that anecdote is factual based or not but my BIL has a 750JD and it does have a few leaks from the PTO area but it has about 1300 hours on it. I have a Kubota B26 with 180 hours and all the backhoe cylinders leak down overnight and many of them have oily film on the metal underneath the cylinder rams. Any brand can have bad seals though. I dont see that any one brand has better quality than any other. From looking at the post here on required repairs, it seems all brands have the occassional failure and other machines of same brand go thousands of hours without one issue.
I would buy the one that feels the best ergonomically, with the best features that I want and is priced the best. Dealer knowledge and service is to be considered also but I wouldnt put them down to being worth thousands of dollars difference between another dealer or brand of similar or identical specs.
I have had good results with my LS tractor. Give them a look before you spend extra for JD or check the LS forum here for folks with a tractor the size you are looking for. The prices will surprise you.

I have been impressed with the M59 specs and am wondering what issues you have had with this machine? I have Deere stuff because I like them and the dealer is alot closer to me than Kubota's. I would think the Deere and Kubota are both good quality machines, but I will problably stick with Deere unless they piss me off.

Have an L 3130 and a 1 year old JD riding mower. When I talked to the Kubota dealer re: jumping and unstable 3 pt hitch I got the old, "Gee, we've never heard of such a thing!" On the other hand the JD repair folks have shown up at our place and replaced, at no cost, parts that JD thought were not up to their standards. Coincidence? Perhaps. But I will certainly check JD for my next tractor. As many have said before. Go with the dealer that you have a good relationship with. It means a lot.

Both.
Ask me if I want a blonde or brunette, my answer is both.
Ask me if I want a regular or light beer, my answer is both.

I guess I am more picky than you are as I like my beer cold.

Well I can say with certainty that I am definately more picky than you:laughing: I like good dogs, cold beers, Deere cab tractors and some hot women. I gotta give my dogs priority over everything else though.

Being an equipment mechanic for the last 25 years, I prefer Kubota over John Deere or New Holland. Kubota is not nearly as electrically complex as either one, and mechanically Kubota seems to accomplish the same things with fewer parts. With that said I would shop dealers and service over brand when it comes to the big three.

The bh hydraulics are slow on the swing. Sometimes it won't swing to the left. Swings to the right by itself while operating the tractor, and won't swing back unless you rev. the engine. I've messed with the 3pt/bh valve levers too no avail. Loader won't lift rounded bucket of gravel to full height. Engine spits&sputters on start up, the colder the worse. The backhoe bucket cutting edge broke 3.5 months ago, after long battle just now being told prob. will be covered under warranty. First thing that happened was the horn button popped out and I can't seem to get it to stay back in. Last, Very poor dealership. All they want is your $$, don't care if you're happy with the machine. Going in tues. to hopefully repair all of these prob. , we'll see.

Depending how you are paying JD worked better for me. I bought a JD because I shopped all the dealers and brands. JD offered the same cash price as they did for free 48 month financing. All the others, including Kubota, jacked the bottom line price up significantly if you financed any part of it including the backhoe I wanted. Hard to pass on free money, especially for a major brand. They all offer 0% financing right now but they said JD does not charge the dealers if the customer uses the 48 month option. There is a charge for 60 or 72 month. The Kubota I priced was just under 6k more expensive if I financed any part of it.

This is probably the best statement on the thread, one of my good friends is a dealer for both brands and it more or less comes down to your personal preference. Some models of one will outshine the other in this category. Check both out and most importantly check out dealer service record, and talk to their customers. The service records of both companies sort of speak for themselves. I personally prefer Kubota, I have had 2 and both performed flawlessly. One of my neighbors is a JD fan for the same reasons I am a Kubota fan. I realize this really doesn't help you decide, and for that reason you should research the dealers themselves. How long have they been a dealer and how much longer would you reasonably anticipate them being a dealer?

dsgsr,
Good luck getting everything fixed, sounds like you need to stand your ground. The swing should work without any of the problems you mention and sounds like you may have bad O rings in the valve body. I haven't read where most M59 owners are having anywhere near the problems you are having.
