Kubota 9540
My dad has an M8000 with basic shuttle shift. I have an M9540 with hyd shuttle shift. Mine works great. His feels like shifter is very loose. The shifter itself feels loose. Almost, as if shifter assembly needs tightening or has a bad bearing? It will engage both fwd and rev. Just doesn't feel at all tight and it has to be moved just right to work. My 9540 isn't at all like that. Any ideas? Thanks. Matt

have you checked to see if the linkage from lever to the tranny can be adjusted? are there any cables in that linkage that have stretched? hopefully simple fix, assume there is no slippage of clutch when operating. good luck

The tractor is actually an M9000, not an 8000. We can't find any loose cables and there is no slippage of the clutch. Once in fwd or rev it stays in gear but the shifter handle has to be shaken around sometimes to get it in gear.

hopefully that is a good sign in that it might be a simple external problem. have you traced it from lever to tranny? have you run it by service @ dealership? the 9000 series is a good solid machine. good luck

He had them out right after he bought it years ago thinking it didn't seem right. They told him it was fine. He's also talked with Kubota Corp by phone and didn't get a good answer. We thought thats just the way they were til I recently bought the 9540 and realized it isn't right on the 9000. No, I haven't traced it or taken it in. Pain to get it to town. Thanks. Matt

b4 you haul to town, physically trace linkage from lever (may require simple shroud disassembly around lever) to the trannie. may be some adjustment (external from trans.) for either solid rod or cable linkage. that may take up slack. if it requires internal adjustments/component replacement, time to take it in. good luck
