This is what's left of the aircleaner housing.

I'll get a new one, but for now, I'll put together some sheetmetal and epoxy to get it going...

Only 113 hours and yeah, they still managed to screw it up!:mur:

Wow, how in the world could anyone do that to an air filter housing?

It looks like the missing chunk of plastic included the snorkel piece. When you taped over the missing chunk, you taped over the air boxes only air supply.
Kind of like putting tape over someone’s mouth. You suffocated the tractor.

Man - is a picture EVER worth a 1K words. That missing chunk of the air filter box is where the intake snorkel was. You taped it off and totally choked off the entire air supply to the engine.

BTW - be sure to let us all know how many arms & legs you have to give for a new outer shell for the air intake. Or if you can just buy the outer shell - by itself. Chances are you might have to buy a whole new intake system.

Whatever - it's good to know that it's something simple.

Here's an image from the manual, showing that air intake snorkel (red arrow).

Well then, he didn’t cover the snorkel. It’s on the clip equipped cap.

You can actually see a little of the snorkel on the right bottom corner of the picture. Unless the snorkel is clogged with debris, maybe it’s time to start looking around the air box. The filter looks real clean, like it was just replaced.

That's not the air intake on the right. That's the rubber valve that expels the debris. The air intake is on the left where I added the red arrow.

Calm down, oosik! :laughing:The intake is unharmed and intact. There's just the big hole in the side. It was wide enough that the tape sagged down onto the outer air filter, causing enough restriction to upset the engine management unit. Unless I'm looking at this diagram wrong, the air filter housing isn't available as a separate part. It's a dollar a day for a year to get a new air filter assembly. The good news is it comes with new inner and outer filters, which together cost about $115, and will eventually need replacement anyway.

For now, a sheet metal cover and some duct tape'll have to be good enough; I've got work to do.

Gonna have to have a chat with the sales dweeb that told me there's nothing wrong with the tractor when I asked.

Yep my bad. I wonder if his tractor has a manifold pressure sensor that shut it down sensing restriction?
