Kubota L4600DT starting issue

Just fixed one this week that had the original battery clamp on the positive terminal. Kubota OEM clamps were cheapie flat stamped type. The clamp had a split in the bottom half. Although the tightening nut seemed to be doing it's job, it wasn't putting enough squeeze on the battery post to reliably break through the corrosion that would form in a week.

Replaced it with a cast type from Amazon - we keep a few on hand.

Thank you for that piece of information, it's always nice to know these little issues. We have a relatively new battery and there isn't any corrosion yet. Still think it's possessed, why else would the gauges come on with the key off.

And if it is an AGM type battery there never wil be any problems with corrosion anyway... Otherwise YMMV.

Yep, gauges coming on with the key off is either ignition switch or possession. Call a cleric.

Thank you. It's acting up again today. ich said he turned the key and nothing again, tried a couple of times and nothing, turned it off and was standing there and heard a click and the gauges came up, tried starting it again and nothing everything went dead. I'm starting to think it might be possessed.
Let's call the exorcist priest guy back to action. I still remember watching it as a teenager and it scared the daylight out of me, lol.

I made a mention of sticky relay before. What you said about it not doing anything and then clicking corroborate that condition. I don't have access for WSM for L4600 but on mine there are 6 relays in all. one is OPC (Operator Presence Control)timer that basically watches seat switch, one for flasher unit and one for glow plug. I will post a pic below here that shows where there are located behind the metal cowling where the start switch is. There are 3 more smaller relays to complete circuit for neutral safeties both for PTO and shuttle shift. On mine all safeties are doubled up perhaps for more reliability but in your there is one in each circuit. On my WSM even the 3 little relays are not clearly identified and they bunch them as one group. I bet one of them is acting up and sticking. Again, anytime you put the key in start position (not crank) then battery and engine light should illuminate.

See if you can find those relays.

The relays are behind the brake manual release.

We just replaced the ignition switch, so it must be possession lol. However it did all start after my dad passed away in May.

RIP to your dad, hope he is in a better place.

ignition switch and relays are too different things. Ignition switch is like a 4 way stop with traffic lights. it just does the switching of the traffic lanes. Relays are passed the cross section to do other task and in this case is switching a circuit on or off with something other than line voltage circuit.

for your reading viewing pleasure. You will have 4 pin relays.

Would this be the relay you are referring to or #80 the controller? #60 is flasher unit and #100 is glow relay. I wouldn't think it would be the glow relay since he only uses it in the winter. I just searched the relay and the controller and I can get the relay for $21 on Amazon, the controller is listed on some sites as the OPC and it's $250.

Obviously I cannot confirm with 100% certainty. I Went to amazon and it is the $20 for that 4 pin relay. It is a heck of lot cheaper than Kubota OEM. You do not want the OPC, Glow plug or flasher unit. For MX-4700 there is a bank of 3 relays. Now that relay can be bench tested, if you have just one then $20 is not a bad try.

It is definitely possessed!! Rich unplugged the seat safety switch, DID NOT jump it and it is starting again.

I reckon I have to agree, put sme garlic on the seat. it might ward off the evil.
That does not make sense. OPC and Neutral safeties have two separate paths but interlinked. Some relays , I believe is latching but can't unlatch quickly. The OPC has a timer module also. I am wondering if that causes it. Anyway $20 is not bad ivestment for that relay. You can check the old relay against the new one. At least you will have a spare relay for future if your existing is good.
