Hello,
Hope someone might have an idea here....
My Kubota 4150 has a intermittent growling (grinding) noise after it is started.
Becoming more frequent, sort of a dull rubbing sound. GGGRRRRRRRR
I suspected a starter problem (not disengaging), installed a new one, problem still there.
Machine is great shape, 995 hours, always stored indoors.
At a loss, any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you.

George

Water pump rub? Alternator?

Try taking the acc belt off and starting the engine. Don't run for too long, but a minute would be OK.

Does it do this when warm, cold, with load or not?

If maintained properly the engine should not be worn.

Hi,
You were 100% right, water pump rub!!!!!!!!
Took the belt off, felt play in the pump bearing, started the tractor, noise gone!!!!!

Ordered the new pump, will do an anti-freeze change at the same time.
Can't thank you enough.
Saved me grief and money (having to engage local Kubota dealer)
