How about a 4WD front deck mower with a snow blower?
I think he is looking for a machine to do sidewalks that can be safely ran on the road with a fast road gear.
Hello,
I'm really in need of some advice from you experts!
Looking to set up an L4060 or L4760 for snow removal. Tractor needs to be narrowed to fit down a sidewalk. The series I'm looking at has decent road speed, which is a must as the tractor/machine will be roaded from site to site.
-Spoke with the dealer whom said we can narrow the stance with rims and tires, which would get us close to 54"-56".
-Looking into an inverted blower for the rear around 72", maybe 84" for driveways and smaller parking lots. We get wet snow more times than not, is an inverted a bad idea since you have to back over the snow in order to clear it? I was thinking a Provonost or something similar with an hydraulic edge on it to pull the snow out then blow it.
-For the front setup I need an option to setup a broom, plow, and snow blower. **The catch is the attachments need to be less than 60" in width, and I don't believe the sub frame quick hitch mount on the 40 series has any options for attachments less than 60" in width?
I don't want to run the attachments on the FEL as I've heard its cumbersome and not the greatest.
Can anyone please provide me with some information in order to set up this tractor narrow as mentioned and with a blower on the rear and snow attachments as mentioned for the front at less than 60"?!?! Any other options and information would be greatly appreciated. I've looked into Toolcats, Holder, we have (2) Ventracs, and looked into about every other option. Toolcat is ideal, just cant get it down below 60" in width. The Holder is too darn big for what we do and couldn't clear larger spaces very well as its narrow and meant for sidewalks and or really deep snow.
Thanks! -Chris
there have been some threads like this over at plow site and i believe the what i see claimed is that the john deere 3720 /3046 is the highest horsepower/ fastest road speed in a sidewalk width tractor- not sure if this is true as i don't know much about clearing walking walks but a bunch of guys there do- might be worth checking out
I concur, the JD 3000 series is notably slightly smaller than the Kubota L3560 & the rest of the grands. The L3560 has a ever so slightly smaller frame than the rest. The L4060 to the L6060 are all the same frame, just bigger engines.
Personally I find the Kubota grands to be a bit underpowered. Really surprised they don't offer a higher HP 3000 series. JD makes several HP ranges up to the mid or high 40s on a smaller frame.
I wish I'd gotten a L4760 over my L4060, but couldn't & still can't justify the extra $5k.
At what I'm guessing is 5,500lbs + implement my 40 net HP L4060 roads better than my old 3,500lbs + implement with 30 net HP. I'm at 6,500' elevation which eats like 6-7 HP or so. I'm pretty sure my machine is running properly. You should take your tractor to the dealer and have them dyno it.

A turbo compensates for elevation to a fair degree. TYM & LS machines in this range are running turbos, but you need to go up several HP notches to get a turbo Kubota. I weighed that when I test drove em all & still decided to keep with Kubota. I'm not hurting bad for HP, I just road a lot & am impatient. If cost were less of an object I'd have shelled out the extra $5k for a 47 over 40.
I'm 44hp and 7k+ when I go down the road. I've never felt under powered.
