Kubota l3750dt
I recently picked up a kubota l3750dt that needs transmission work. I have been waiting for the guy i bought it from to come up with the repair manual. But as most people i want to tinker with my new toy. What i know so far is that it was run with out transmissiin fluid. I can get it in to netraul and turn the engine over buy turning the pto with a pipe wrench. The clutch dosnt act like its working as this makes no diffrence in starting or moving gears around. The front wheels spin freely but the back wheels dont move at all no matter what i do. I even tried putting a bar between the lug nuts and pushing on it and nothing. So the only conclusion i have come to was there is a problem with clutch and brakes maybe the plantary gears. Im not a mechnic and know even less about transmissions. If anyone has any ideas for me to check let me know. Im holding out for another week on the manual but dont want to wait to start on it. Thanks

Wait.

Ripping into it may be "fun" at first, but when you want to put it back it won't be fun.

If the transmission was run dry, that means the differential was run dry and the hydraulic pump was dry and the power steering was run dry. I smell the sickly sweet smell of burning money. $$$. Lot's and lots of burning money.

The clutch not making a difference means it is probably stuck and probably needs to be replaced. The rear wheels not turning when in neutral means the rear differential is locked up -- probably a catastrophic failure internal. If the trans is not shifting, there may be "issues" in there too. Especially when you think about the fluid being shared between all systems and what contamination does.

Sorry, but that may not have been the best purchase ever.

I wouldn't do anything until you get someone who knows these tractors to have a look and give you a place to start.

I'm pretty good with a wrench and I won't rebuild a trans without expert advice.:D

Im not getting into the transmission part yet and im defintly wait for someone that is experinced in transmission for that part. Im going to take rear wheels apartthis week down to differential to see whats up with that i got all the covers of the top of transmission now and everything that i can see looks fine( dosent mean that it is) ivechecked online and parts from wegners arepretty cheap. Imthinkng if i have to replace most of the major parts ill have about a thousand which isnt to bad. Thanks for help so far ill let you know how i make out with the rear wheels. And thanks for confirming that clutch was shot.

Does this tractor start and run?, Have you topped the transmission oil off, so it is full? Does this machine have a hydraulic shuttle? I have never seen a differential failure in that series of machine. In proper working condition the rear axles are very difficult to turn. Like was stated before you are asking for trouble by just starting to tear the machine apart without having any information on it.

It dose start and run. And know i didnt put any fluid in it. How would you go about flushing that whole transmission out the stuff i emptyied out was nastyand black. I dont wanna dump 15 gallons of fluid in and conaminte all new stuff. Im not taking anything apart i cant get back together. Its not hydroshift all gears. I went to the above website so i hope they get back soon.i only paid 400 for it so thats not bad i could scrap it n get more. Tires all have lots of tread i would say clise to new the engine had just gotten rebuilt supposedly about 500 hrs ago used one season. It starts easily and sounds great.i figure even putting fifteen hundred i gotta a pretty decent tractor. Ido think clutch is shot or sticking it was replaced same time engine was done but has been sitting for a few years

I'd get a couple of 5 gallon pails of HD tractor/transmission/hydraulic fluid (like from Sam's @ $35/pail) and dump them into the transmission. I'd also change the hydro filter, and give the motor an oil/filter change w/ a couple of gallons of 15W-40. That'll run you about $100. Then I'd run it and see what it does. Maybe it'll work. If nothing else, at least you'll know where it leaks.

Is there any grinding when you put it in gear? When you let the clutch out does the engine bog down like it is trying to move the machine? Put the PTO in gear and let the clutch out, does the PTO turn? With everything in neutral will the machine roll when pushed?

The clutch dosnt do anything and the rear wheels wouldnt turn even when draged. The last time i had it running the transmision was spinning free but the clutch wouldnt do anything. When i engaged pto when machine wasnt running icould turn transmission and engine over with Pipe wrench on pto shaft.

Well it sounds locked up to me (not that you didn't already know that, but it is tough diagnosing through the computer). I would pull the 3-pt cover and main shift cover off and have a look inside. You really won't be able to see much by pulling the rear axle housings off other than the brakes and carrier bearings. You might have to pull them anyway but I would start on top so you can have a good look at all of the gears.

I have all the covers off. Even top off rear differntial and everything looks fine their wasnt any chips of metal or anything in fluid when i drained it out everything was spinning inside last time i fired it up. Everything slides free where they hook up with shifting forks. Thay has wet brake system i belive so im thinking those are locked up and needs new clutch

Well i got some good news on tractor today. It was the brakes that where locked up on tractor. I had a friend of mine that used to work on tractors come out with me to take a look at it amd he freed up one of the brakes i got free up other side still but its a step forward. Its also a two stage clutch so there might not be a big deal there atleast one stage is working thats why i can turn pto and engine will turn. Im going to flush the tranny out and put some fluid it and see what happens. He checked gears out and manuvered them around and came to opion that everything in tranny seems fine no missing theeth everything slides around free. So if it dosnet move into gear ill split it and check out clutch.

Go to ytmag.com and search the ford section for "stuck clutch". Lots of methods to get a rust stuck clutch free.

I would hitch up a 2 or 3 bottom plow or 7' double gang disc, block the clutch peddle down and plow until it frees up. If you do 10 acres and it's not free, THEN think about splitting. If it does pop free, do at least 10 starts from a dead stop at 2000 rpm in high gear. That will burn off the contamination.
