I need some advice...the owners manual for my L3400 recommends a 5' snow blade. Would I have problems with the loader arms (short or long-term) or lack of power to push the snow if I bought a 6' snow plow. Right now, I am just using the FEL, but it would be quicker to run a plow up and down the driveway for light snow. The snow fall in my area is variable, from a few inches to drifts up to the headlights (then I would put the bucket back on). I have a chance to get a used 6' plow that looks to be in good shape. Thanks.

If you want my opinion I would say go buy the 6 ft. by the time you angle the plow, it will be much shorter. It would be nice if the plow when angled cleared out enough space for the tires to run in the cleared area and a 5 ft wont do that.. As for can you push it, it would depend on the snow conditions and what kind of tires/chains you have on it. Turfs are better on snow than AG or Industrial, and chains on any tire beats anything without chains, and some chains are better than others. My 2 cents.

I have a L3700 with the 463 loader. I have used a 7-6 blade on it and it works fine.

Thanks, I think I will give the 6' a try-if it doesn't get sold; I just don't want to damage the FEL by pushing too much snow. I do have turf tires and 2 link ladder chains but had to take one chain off due to it hitting the fender, so will need to readjust it when it warms up a little. One tire seems to have more space b/t the fender than the other side.

I have a sx 3100 Yanmar with a 7ft plow. I am amazed at how well it pushes snow. I do have 2 link chains as well. The thread is in the cub/Yanmar section. Sent from my iPhone using TractorByNet

I run a 9' power angle snow blade on my 35 HP tractor, with chains on all 4 wheels.
No problems with the loader arms so far.

How much snow do you get in Michigan? VT varies from year to year, but I do live in a higher snow area, where I get almost daily snow of a couple of inches and then larger amts with storms. Have had to have someone come in with a bucket loader to move banks back some years as there was no room to put more snow.
