Kubota L2650
Was working tractor without issue when I and stopped for coffee. Half an hour later it would not start. Had to drag it in to the barn to get it away from horses. It did not pull easily. Brakes don't appear to be locked on and all transmission levers are in neutral positions. I have pulled cleaned both ends of both battery cables and attempted to start the tractor by jumping to a freshly charged tractor battery and/or jumped it to running vehicle. All panel lights come on and stay on when ignition switch is turned to heat up glow plugs and when turned to the on position. When the start position is engaged all the lights dim and the starter grinds over very slowly. Any thoughts on were I should turn next?

You must have a short in the battery cable, at the solenoid Or in the starter... Looks like there is a Lot of current going somewhere ...

My guess is the battery is shorted, and by tring to use another good abttery to jump start will make no difference, you must unhook the shorted battery, or replace it. A shorted battery will show 12 or more volts but when a load is put on it, shorts out.

I have the same tractor. 2001 model. This happened to me once, and it turned out to be the kill switch wasn't engaging properly. I oiled the linkage, worked it back and forth for awhile, and she fired right up. Something to check out.

Thanks. I have a friend with a Kubota engine sitting in his work shop I can try changing it out to see if that overcomes the problem. All connections appear to be solid.

I was made aware of that issue in the past. I pulled the battery and jumped to the cables after charging the tractor battery and also jumped straight to the cables from a running vehicle with the same result. A friend of mine took the battery to his dad's shop and he told me that the battery was a little week but should be good. I trickle charged it overnight before attempting to start again.

I can try that. If memory services when attempting to start the tractor in cold weather it helps to pull the kill switch during the initial start up. I did try that but the starter didn't change its cranking pattern. I will try lubricating the linkage and see if that helps. Thanks
