Kubota hydraulic fluid

I think we have the same HST+ transmission. The M59 was our first HST tractor, and came new from Kubota with UDT. I was concerned about the hydraulic whine under high loads, so at the 50 hr service the dealer put in New Holland's Ambra GL 134. He said he did that routinely to all his customer's machines.

The Ambra - which is Shell's trans/hydraulic fluid - did seem to be quieter - although by then I had also learned to set & use the HST+ tranny properly, so that made some of the difference.

At 600 hrs I switched to SUDT and didn't notice any change at all. Running SUDT now, and the 20 year old tranny is quiet and works perfectly. Very nice transmission and hydraulics on this tractor. HST+ is a peach!

My feeling is there are a lot of things involved with HST & hydraulic noise and no idea how much of that is the fluid and how much is the operator.

BTW, does your HST+ on the L6060 have this type of treadle pedal? View attachment 5017312

Mine is similar, but not exactly the same:

The whine is most noticeable when under load and the fluid is hot. It seems to be lessening as I put more hours on the tractor.

For whatever reason the L60 series pedal seems to take a lotta heat on the internet... I have always found it to be comfortable and easy to use. 99% of the time I use my whole foot on the pedal, and don't use the extension on the right side.

Yeah, the L6060 treadle does generate a lot of complaints. I guess it take some practice at first. I use my entire foot on the pedal as well, but I actually like the treadle on the MX series a bit better. On that one, I use my toe under the extension.

With the HST+ tranny, I can down or upshift instantly at full speed and load by simply wiggling my left pinkie finger. That ease of shifting under load has a lot to do with reducing the HST whine.

There sure are different ways to use those pedals. Instead of using my entire foot on the treadle, I rest my foot on the floor & use toe pressure on the front extention piece to go forward....then move my whole foot back to use toe pressure on the rear of the treadle for reverse.

So I use the treadle more like a tractor that has separate pedals for F/R.
One advantage to the treadle is purely mechanical: even with big feet there is no way a treadle can engage Forward and Reverse at the same time.

I use the OEM UDT2 oil in my Kubotas. Yes, it's expensive but how often do you change the hyd. oil? There are cheaper products out there that may work just fine but IMO, why chance it.
400 hrs is recommended service intervals!! Now most home owners that do 25-50 hrs a year not so bad.Now landscaper or farmer could hit 400 hrs fairly quickly Super UDT here in NC is $28.00 a gallon my tractor is 10.3 gallons 2 filters trans and hydro expensive service.I ran a lot of heavy equipment hydro oils synthetic where getting 4K hours change intervals factory recommended.
