Hey guys- thanks for all the useful information. I am thinking very hard about picking up a new L3400, and after reading your discussions it makes sense to me to buy one using Kubota's Credit. The difference in price is the $1000 rebate and about $800 in insurance for a total of about $1800 (more).

I got a flyer in the mail stating all the models that will continue to have the 0% finance and of course the L3400 is not mentioned. Both dealers I am talking to have told me that the prices they have quoted me are only good until Saturday (the end of the month). One has also stated that he will not know until Monday (the first of the month) if the 0% is still available.

Does anyone really know if the 0% will be available after this weekend- or do dealers only quote a price until the end of the month?

By the way- could be interested in a used l3400 in the East Texas area.

Thanks.

The Kubota dealer I'm working with said that they were surveyed by Kubota and recommended that the financing continue. My comment was that from a competitive situation, in todays market, that the 0% would be hard to do without. The dealer agreed. Having said that I'm planning on closing or at least getting the paperwork in by Sat to lock in. I'm still working the numbers on this deal so it could still go south. I do like buying at the end of the month as most companies have numbers to meet.

In a word yes, their promotional rates end 10/31. If it is any comfort. They also ended last month on 9/30, but then where extended the very next day until 10/31. I have to agree as well, that in today's economy, with most other manufactures offering 0% financing of some fashion, I have to believe they will continue to extend this offer a month at a time until they feel they no longer need to do so. JMHO Take it for what it's worth. Good luck with your purchase.

Thank you for your input- I really appreciate it. I believe I will act as if the deal will end Saturday. The reason I thought that it might not end is that I cannot see a manufacturer not telling their dealers of the end in sight- that of course is what I was hoping for, and any leverage it may have gotten me-it would leave a lot of inventory sitting around.

AHNC-, if you would be so kind: the numbers you are working with- do you have a trade-in or are they just flexible is some other areas?

BillyBob,

I was also told by a Kubota dealer that all they need is the serial number of the tractor you are wanting to buy to complete a deal by the end of business Saturday. They do not need the physical tractor on sight or delivered by Saturday to obtain the 0% financing that ends 10/31/09

One can never know what Kubota will do but by letting it expire they hope it will get a few more people in the door before it does. I would guess they will renew it again since the other brands have the same kind of offers.

While I currently live in MA, I am buying for a piece of property I own, and my daughter lives in in N. CA. I have looked only at BX's in the Kubota line. The asking price from the local CA dealer is 12,800 and 13,600 for the 2360 and 2660 w/FEL respectively. $1,800 and $1,900 for the 54 and 60 MMM. This is a clean deal as I have no trade-in. I continue to negotiate and hope to close by Sat. We'll see! Good luck on your deal. Please keep me posted on how you do and I'll reciprocate.

Dealers can hedge all they want as to if the programs will be extended or not and we all seem to get the same answer from our reps. They don't know!

There are several things that make or keep the manufacturers using these type programs from what we have seen.

Excess inventory, not a problem with Kubota, they are actually several months
out on machinery we have sold
Price to high , Kubota has always had reasonable pricing for the product
Loss of market share, Kubota is still carrying their repected load

You may want to call Kubota Credit Corp. directly, to inquire. Their phone is 8884658268. Of course they may not want to announce their intentions for any promotional rate extensions, but it never hurts to ask.

Toyota does the same thing with their rebates as a sales tactic. The dealers don't know what will happen next month so they can push the "deal" because it is about to expire. Their vision is that hoards of people will rush in to get the bargain. (Think "Cash for Clunkers".)

Telling people early that a deal will be extended would not bring about the desired result of increased sales at the end of a term.

Art-I am learning about ending the 0%, and the reasons why a dealer may not know. And am in agreement that market share and price for Kubota are strong points to ponder (but we all know why- it has to do with the product). I do not know about inventory levels. I was told by an ol' deere guy that if they end one promotion they will come back with something else- much as Crazyal was talking about. I honestly believe the the 0% will continue, and I would like to close tomorrow, but will not allow the dealer to tell me that the price quoted is only good for that day (if the deal doesn't feel right). Heck, I can still buy one used for cash.
