while checking the reduction box and gearbox oil levels on the blower I noticed that the gearbox oil looked brown and milky which I figured meant there was water in the oil. So today I changed out the gearbox oil, I will attach a picture of the oil that came out.

While changing the oil I noticed a defect in the weld on the fan housing and I'll attach pictures of that as well.

The snowblower was new this winter and probably has 5 hours on it. I'm going to give my dealer a call but wanted to post here also and see how concerned you guys would be about this.

As far as I know they still have their minions at RAD build their snow blowers.

That broken metal should not be there, where EXACTLY is it???

Is the middle image of the point where the scraper lip on the impeller paddle
meets the rear wall of the impeller housing??

About the oil its hard to tell or see what you have there, no offense.

I will never never understand why these attachments are not offered or constructed using solid cross augers with narrow flighting. with serrations to chop up the snow.

At least with the Pronovost units its an option or you can custom order it.

These implement builders still fail to understand that the smaller you cut up the snow the faster it can be cast away.

All the these snow casters would work so much better as the snow would not be able to pile up in front of the snow caster leaving a pile of it.

Yes the crack is where the rear wall meets the impeller housing.

It's hard to get a good picture of the oil but it is a different color than the gear oil that went back in. With only 5 hours on the blower i figured it must be contaminated.

Hey neighbor,

I just purchased the BX5455HD a few weeks ago but hasn't snow here enough to try it out yet. I'll have to keep an eye on these things.

Thanks

I talked to my Canadian Kubota dealer today re smaller tractor snow blowers.
They are built by Rad in Canada.
What is really telling is that the fasteners on the snow blower are SAE and not metric.
Kubota stuff would be metric if they made it.

My RAD built john Deere 44 inch snowblower junk has a mix of metric and SAE parts.

Last I knew, the engines of the small Kubotas were the only things imported for those units where
the engines and transmissions of the B series and up units were imported from Japan and the rest
of the parts were purchased here in the states.
