Nope, not looking at which one to buy but just some thoughts. We recently purchased a BX25D to help with small chores around the house and take care of things the MX5100 does not do as well...
First off the MX is a heck of a good machine, we are very pleased with it. Has a ton of power, good front end loader and runs like a top. But recently I been working on some ditching along our road and found the BX does a better job at it. The reason is not power but maneuverability. The road is narrow and tree lined so I found it is sometime a struggle to get the MX across the road and be able to dig the ditch and this is where the BX shines. I now scoop the ditch out with the BX and load the dump trailer that is attached to the MX- works great and saves a lot of time.

Today I finally got to try out the belly mower - did a GREAT job and am very pleased with it. I used to use a 36" commercial zero turn and was pleasantly surprised that the BX was faster cutting tonight (about 2 acres). Granted it is a bigger deck but I was still surprised I was able to beat the zero turn. Don't think I want to use the BX for my brush hogging work due to its size (way to rough and steep) but for the lawn it is perfect!

Yesterday I needed to move about 15 tons of Gravel for a friend - the BX did a good job (needed a machine with a backhoe so I had the BX with me) but there is no comparison to the MX. The MX can push in, grab a much larger bucket of material and move it with a lot of power to spare. With that said, I also had two stumps to that we needed to remove in his yard - this is where the BX shined. No real damage to the yard and the stumps were out. Only marks that I left were where the stabilizers were sat down.

With all this said, I am really impressed with the little BX - it won't replace my MX for the heavy lifting, but for what it is designed for it does an excellent job.

There is no doubt in my mind that the more "blades" you have in your jackknife the more versatile you will be. I get by with one tractor, but there are times I have wished for a larger one, and times I have wished for a smaller one. I am doing 99 percent of what I need done with my Kioti, but there are times around some of the flower beds, I just have to get off and use a shovel. I have wished for a BX during those times.:D You are fortunate to have two tractors to get done the things that need doing.

Yes Sir - I agree. Now if you ask my wife I only have one tractor, the BX is HERS!
Never realized how nice it is to have two sizes

I have a hard time your 0 turn is slower too. What you have is the 1 2 punch.:punch:

Thanks for the report. I can imagine situations where a smaller tractor would be handy. If you get a chance, would be great to see photos of the two machines together. I am not that familiar with the B-series machines.

Same here, only both our BX's 2200 and 2660 belong to my wife. I recently broached the idea of trading them both off for a new BX25D; won't be doing that again...

Up side is he doesn't care what I do with "our" L5740 and M8540.

Here's a shot of my B3030 and BX-25 on wash day. The BX-25 is a little pit bull.

Well I showed my wife how to operate the BX25D last weekend. So yesterday morning I got up to dig up 4 stumps. Well the wife got her flower beds done and I still have 4 stumps to dig out. Anyone have a BX I can use since I lost mine.

IMG_0013.jpgIMG_0012.jpgBig and little.jpgFATTIRE, Here is the requested photo from the day we brought the "little one" home.... BIG difference when you see them next to each other. I think the BX rear wheel is smaller then the front on the MX - kind of wish the MX had the same seat as the BX, it is really nice. May have to find one of them and "upgrade!"

I was surprised at the difference in cutting time between the zero turn and the BX. Now the BX does have a larger deck(24" larger) plus I believe the top speed is a bit higher. I also think having a larger tire on the BX smoothes out the yard a little and lets me cut a little quicker rate. I have set the yard up where I don't have a whole lot of trimming so that is too my advantage as well.
Honestly, I also like the BX better - the wife can run it, the zero turn and sulky she avoided like the plaque!!! When the wife cuts the grass the BX is a WHOLE lot faster than the zero turn I had to run!!!

Wow, that's a world of difference, two different tools entirely. Nice looking sky that day in your photos too, doesn't get much better than that.
