Sixdogs, that is a classic. The only problem I have with the shoe thing is she will remind me how many fishing rods/reels and Igloo coolers I have. Lol.

Wow! Just moved there and the neighbor has you mowing his 10a. That is just the thing happened to me. The day I hauled my JD950 600 miles there was a note in my mail box the next day wanting to mow for him. Well I did and charged him $40.00 ( should of been around $150.00 ) being a new neighbor that I hadn't even seen until I meet him about the note and be being here about a week. You know what he never ask me again to mow. I guess $40.00 was to much for about 6 hrs of mowing. Also wouldn't even wave when I went by after that. Sure was glad he didn't like the $40.00 price. I know better then to low ball the price on a job, because that job might come back around.

Different circumstance here. Neighbors lost their house to hurricane Ike. Since the house was removed, the pipeline that runs through the property makes it almost impossible to rebuild, so the property just sits with no one tending it. I keep it cut just to improve the looks of my property and to keep the rats at bay. Plenty of hawks here so the rats aren't crazy about open spaces. Been offered the property for a reduced price but there is no real value, so I just keep it mowed.

Now to get back to your bush hog. I would stay with a 5' , the 7800 shoud be fine for awhile, I was doing 20a with the JD for about 2 years. Then do like sixdogs said, then the mowing well turn back into fun and as you are mowing you can think of how nice of a wife you have. Also it well make you think you pull one over on her. For now have fun mowing and enjoy the 7800 it's one H---- of a little tractor.

Thanks. That's why I need more width. I have a 5 foot Land Pride and it works well, but I was trying to cut down on time. Keeping my ten acres cut. Cutting my neighbor's not as often, but still....

Just bought this place and the B7800 is what the owner had. Fine tractor and I got it at a steal. Just looking at all options.

I have a B7800 and use a 5' Landpride. That's as much as I would want to put on it. Both for power and the weight on the three point. I mow ten acres with it. Takes a while.

Some people like this want it for *FREE* and anything short of that is considered poor taste on your part. Which leads us to Rule # 16 of tractor and implement ownership. Never volunteer.

In fact, avoid any discussion with any neighbors or friends with jobs they have planned unless you are willing to donate and risk your time, money and equipment. Call me wrong if you wish but I have been down that path a number of times. It's like loaning money to friends. When it's all done you will lose both your money and your friend. A loan should be considered a gift or don't bother.

No intent to hijack here so go back to the B7800 and one of the finest small tractors ever built. I'll never sell mine and wouldn't mind owning another if I could luck out and buy one for next to nothing like our OP.

The thread title is Kubota B7800. If your volunteer work was with this machine, then I see no hijacking involved.

Fact is, when a man I work with found out I got the tractor (it was a side deal from the property), he told me he needed to buy some dirt and have it spread. A foreman at work told me what you said,.....Don't Do It ! Lol.

Can't say what I paid for the 2008 B7800 with front end loader, finish mower, box blade, bush hog and 500 hours. They wouldn't believe me.

My first tractor was a B7800. I loved it. Plenty of power for its size. The 4 cylinder is a great motor.

I had a 5 foot bush hog behind mine. I mowed about 4 to 5 acres of pasture in about 4 hrs.

My brother n law has it now and I wish I kept it.

I'm a city boy who moved to the country. My first tractor and I'm learning all I can. Today I learned how to back drag and dig with the front end loader. What a sweet tractor. I'm no expert, but I'm getting pretty good with it. I find myself looking for things to do with my Kubota. What a man toy!

While you're in the discovery mood, find into the proper grease for that front end loader. When two pieces of metal rub together you need a thin film of grease to keep things separated. Oh, don't track the grease into the house or you'll be sleeping with that B7800 out in the shed. :D
