Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems

If mine, I would insist that the unit be updated to current release.

Contact Kubota directly if your dealer does not want to help you.

Well, I guess it's time to post an update to this B3350 fiasco.

In mid-June, I hauled the tractor to my nearest dealer and gave them the Campaign PSB-2015-066 information provided by Kubota Corporate. I also asked them to perform the 400 hour service for me (to try and provide them some profit motivation). I called them every few weeks since then to check on the progress. Each time, they told me they were waiting for parts from Kubota that address the Factory Campaign.

Three MONTHS later, I decided to visit the shop and speak to them face-to-face. I was told the Service Manager was on vacation and Ben promised to have Barry call me Monday with an update. So I guess there's nothing NEW to report but I'll post whatever Barry tells me Monday. If he tells me they STILL don't have the parts, I'll inform Kubota AGAIN as to the continuous delays.

If this **** continues, I might actually need legal advice.

I'd say you have a right to be miffed. Did you try contacting Kubota's national customer service?

My 2018 B3350 was in the shop for 12 weeks this summer for regen issues. Just about everything related to the Tier IV system was replaced, and all parts were delivered within days (once ordered). Delays were caused by the dealer not by parts delivery.

Sounds like your dealer doesn't want to work on your tractor.

You need to get Kubota involved.

wow 12 weeks?I work in a dealership and that wouldn't fly here.We would turn that around in a week or less.
Kubota has even created special 2 day classes and workshops on the b3350.The biggest issue is lack of operator training from the sales reps.
If you run that engine hard..eg full throttle or at least 2200 rpm and keep it warm at least 3 bars on the gauge and never ever ever ever never push the inhibit button, the only time it will ask for a parked regen will be when it needs to clean the doc,and that happens usually after 4-5 auto dpf regens.
If people were aware that a low rev regen is taking place and that because the idle did not raise its not a fail, then there wouldn't be any issues at all. Some people get used to the fact that the ecu raises the rpm when a parked regen starts, but a doc regen usually the rpm is only 1300 or so and it can take 40 minutes to complete.hope this helps someone.

The biggest issue with the B3350 is the imperfect emissions system and operating software the tractor was released with. Multiple campaigns and software updates were not released as customer education efforts.
They seem to have a handle on it now but blaming operating issues solely on operator error or ignorance is incorrect and frankly, insulting.

In my case, the problem appears to have been (according to 2 different Kubota service reps) engine oil getting past the intake valve guides causing an OT condition during regeneration resulting in immediate engine shut down. I saw the intake both before and after cylinder head removal. There was evidence of oil but not much. I was told that it does not take much.

Cylinder head was sent out for remanufacturing, DPF and reformer were both replaced. ALL other updates, etc., had previously been done prior to last shut down.

Engine has performed running regen only twice since delivered, both times shutting down. First regen/shutdown was at 2,200 RPM. Second was at WOT.

I've not put enough time on it for it to regen since it's been back so jury is still out.

Stay tuned.

Additionally, the owners manual has not been updated to inform operators of "don'ts."

After last issue, I asked for new/updated owners manual and new regen decals. I was provided an electronic copy of the current version of the operators manual but there are no changes relating to regen from my earlier version. The regen decal has been updated but remains inadequate. There is no mention of regen engine RPM in either owner's manual or regen decal.

holy I would be pissed too..the whole issue is a 3 cyl mechanically injected engine trying to be run as a electronic engine
good luck to you.

Actually, the B3350 uses a 4 cylinder engine but it is mechanically injected, and therein lies the rub.

It is the only Kubota mechanically injected engine designed to meet the insane TIER IV regulations. Accordingly the emissions system used on this engine is different in all ways from that used on all other Kubota engines. My experience has taught me that just about everything must be nearly perfect for reliable operation. This does not bode well for long term reliability even if all is well initially.

Wow, SDT, that is good to know. I will stay away from this model for sure.
