Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems

   / Kubota B3350 tractor regeneration problems #271
Actually, the B3350 uses a 4 cylinder engine but it is mechanically injected, and therein lies the rub.

It is the only Kubota mechanically injected engine designed to meet the insane TIER IV regulations. Accordingly the emissions system used on this engine is different in all ways from that used on all other Kubota engines. My experience has taught me that just about everything must be nearly perfect for reliable operation. This does not bode well for long term reliability even if all is well initially.

Very similar to that in the F3990 and ZD1511 with somewhat similar results.

Has anyone heard anything more recent on a potential solution? My B still does the same thing and dealer has no clue what to do.

The B3350 replacement it to be announced in about ten days.

It is my understanding that Kubota is doing no further work on the current design engine, but rather, taking a wait and see approach.

If you are CERTAIN that your 3350 is COMPLETELY up to current design specs and that it is not pumping oil past the intake valves, there is little that you can do but wait and see.

Definitely not pumping oil past valves, as for everything else, I have no idea since the dealer tells me nothing. I wrote a letter to Kubota asking for a complete list of recalls and service bulletins on my tractor and so far have heard this....

Thank you for contacting Kubota Customer Satisfaction regarding your B3350. We do not see any uncompleted Service Bulletins on this unit. If you are having issues with it, we recommend contacting your local dealer for assistance. We have been in contact with your selling dealership, and they have a record of when it came in for a Service Bulletin on 10-2-2018, but have no further records of this machine having come in. The emissions warranty on this unit is still valid until 6-20-2021 or 3000 hours, whichever comes first, so if this is found to be a manufacturing defect, the repairs would be covered under warranty.

Regards,

Ruth G.

Any idea if there are any bulletins after 10-2-2018? I never took it back because they charge me a trip charge if they say nothing is wrong.

No idea, and not relevant.

I strongly advise that you insist upon speaking with the Kubota service representative in your area. Many/most dealers are intentionally vague (trying to be diplomatic, here) about such issues.

More than likely, your Kubota representative will not agree to do this unless your 3350 is at your dealer at the time. Accordingly, you may need to eat the cost of transporting your 3350 to your dealer. Do not expect the Kubota representative to visit your property to inspect your tractor.

How do you know that your 3350 is not leaking oil past the intake valve seals?

With that being a mechanical injected engine I'd be running a new direct throttle cable and be fabricating a new exhaust system.

Doing so would void your warranty and maybe get you in trouble with the federales.

Don't know how the ECM would react but it would certainly not be seamless.

Warranty yes it would, if removed. A pipe driven thru a cat or filter/convertor would eliminate the plugging issue.
The reaction of the ECM might surprise you, sensors can be faked out, most are millivolt or resistance.

As far as the danged feds I don't have much use for them to start with.

The issue is not plugging. The issue is the algorithm that attempts to "guarantee" that emissions do not exceed regulations so as to keep Kubota out of trouble with the federales with which none of use have much use.
