I wonder if there are aftermarket "solutions" to these issues? For every make of an emission controlled diesel pick up, you can buy an "off road" delete kit. Not only you get better power, but you get 30% improvement in fuel economy. Of course, these kits are meant for off road use only..., aren't tractors off road by design?

If you search for an off road "delete kit" now, you won't find any. One major manufacturer was fined $500K and required to refund on all product sold (I don't think anyone would take them up on the refund offer, but the fine stuck.

This was obviously enough to completely dry up that market in the USA in not time. Not sure if there are any work arounds for pickups, but it in another country. For our tiny little market, it is most unlikely there will be kits sold to bypass emission controls.

In Europe, some diesel car owners are drill holes through their DPF to effectively bypass it, BUT there is a reprogramming of the computer involved too, at it is initially programmed to expect a regen, if not by back pressure then by mileage.

Hi Brain55, couldn't you scan in into a pdf file and post it so we could download or at least look at it? Just curious.

Has anyone noticed if "the fix" has worked? Looking at B3500 vs B2650 to purchase within the next few weeks.

Imho it has with the exception of snow blowing when the snow is very light and can clog the intake filter. My dealer suggests getting an extra air filter to have on hand if the snow clogs the intake. Swap it out and defrost the snow clogged one. Also suggested that the air intake horn could be adjusted so the air is drawn from the engine side of the rad. Of course if there is not any powder snow then that is a moot point.
Also heard that the 3350 and other tier 4 units will be going to DEF fluid instead of burning diesel in the DPF. Don't know if that will be an advantage or another PIA.

The snow clogging the intake filter is common to both the 2650 and 3350.I had the air filter on my B2650 ice up solid (the entire filter was coated in about 1/4in of ice) and starving the engine of air. Dealer made the same recommendation to me...carry an extra filter to swap out when it happens...Under normal snow conditions it didn't seem to be an issue but in the situation of filter icing it was very fine snow and a lot of snow blow back from the blower toward the front of the tractor. One of the dealer techs told me that they had reports of regens on DPF tractors failing on ocassion because the required temps could not be attained some times in very cold conditions.

BTW..I never had an air filter ice up on my traded B1700 that ran flawlessly for 18 years. My B2650HSDC sure is purdy but I have yet to be convinced that the build quality/reliability is the same as my old B1700.

Time will tell.

You can remove the intake snorkel that draws the air from ahead of the rad. That will eliminate the air cleaner plugging off. It will also be better for the filter that it doesn't get wet.

Swapping out air cleaners by carrying a spare doesn't sound like a solution.

AGREED...relocating the intake would be..I suspect that the majority of users would rarely encounter the problem. In my case it happened after 4 hours of continuous snowblowing with lots of fine fine blowback that kept my windshield wiper/washer busy and the heater on full heat defrost....but carrying an extra filter is NOT the response one should expect from a major tractor supplier. Sure is a nice toasty warm environment to blow snow from though.
