Thanks. Seems like we Canucks are a scarce breed! What U say seems to make a lot of sense! I appear to have the same Dealer to my location ratio as you and my 1 Kioti Dealer and a couple of the closer Kubota Dealers are all standing on there heads to get my business. All have good service reputations.

Hear is my question for U. How heavy is too heavy for comfortable easy mowing? Does 1200 lbs+ make the CK30 a poor choice compared to the B3030? Will I get a lot of rutting on the same ground or is too wet for one, too wet for either tractor?

Like a lot of you I may start off with more mowing in mind, but things could change and I could end involved with a lot of other attachments. This is very possible for me as I have a lot of interest from neighbors and friends to do bits and pieces for them.

My questions are open for all to respond. Thanks

Awert:

I'm no expert of any kind with tractors - let alone on mowing, but if I was mowing I would go with turf tires no matter the tractor. I have seen what my industrials can do to a wet lawn with the L3400. Perhaps a B3030 would be easier on it with is less weight - I don't know. But if mowing was important to me I'd go turf.

If you do go turf, I probably wouldn't be terribly worried about either tractor tearing up the yard too bad. I'd be a bit careful with both when the grass was wet. Others that mow here would be much better off giving you direction in this department.

I originally planned on getting one tractor to do it all - with a mid mount mower. Then I saw what MMMs cost along with the hydraulic componets to go with them and decided that I would get a tractor to do everything other than finish mowing instead (my L3400) and I'd rather spend what I would have on a MMM on a dedicated lawn tractor instead. For the amount of mowing I've got to do - an acre or so - thats the ideal setup for me - rather than having one big do it all machine that probably wouldn't be able to get the corners, around trees anyway.

For me personally, when I looked at the B7800 and the B3030 I thought they were nice tractors but on the light side / smaller frame and since MMM prices were such that I would get a dedicated lawn tractor with them, the weight was a negative. For MY application the L3400 and the CK30 were more tractor for very similar money to the B3030.

I think you mentioned somewhere that you didn't want to go with a MMM anyway? If so then it may be worthwhile to throw the L3400/L2800 into the mix as well.

It sure sounds to me like for your application any of these machines would be just fine. Although, if I were you I would be looking at the MMM.

I purchased my machine in october 2005. I think the cab chimed in at around $4000. with the stereo & some auxillary 12 volt and switches.

Seems to be more reliability problems with the Kioti. For that reason I would go with the Kubota.

That's rather odd since KIOTI just increased their warranty coverage. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif This entire thread makes some good points except for that.

I think both are great machines.

Not to agree, or disagree with you, but increasing their warranty would have zero to do with improved reliability. It is a marketing tool, not a reliability barometer. I happend to have been working for a Chrysler dealer when they first came out with their 7/70 warranty that blew everyone away. Even though I really do like Chrysler products, and still own two of them as of this day, I would not correlate any of their past extended factory warranty periods to anything but marketing. The same would hold true for tractors.

Dargo, your point is accurate. Kia offers a 10 year warrenty but they did it as a marketing ploy to get over the stigma of building a lousy car. Now they build a lousy car with a 10 year warrenty.

Marketing Department = Paid Liars
Advertising Department = Paid Liars
Engineering Department = basically honest people wha are paid to prove Marketing & Advertising Depts are liars
