KT17 idle issue

on my 317, my engine idles at normal rpm with the throttle at half open, and every five seconds sounds like it goes under load, starts to skip, and goes right back to normal idle for 5 seconds. is this gov. problems? i plan on getting the carb tuned up this spring. any help is greatly appreciated!

okay, because the spring that hitches to the linkage is loose, along with that linkage. thanks

The tech manual has instructions on how to set up & adjust the governor spring. But I'll tell you that I had similar problems and it ended up being carb adjustments that corrected it.

good to know, I have a copy of a service manual, and I need to find out just where the manuals to it are. but you know how long this sat, so i would guess just by looking at the carb to start there.
