Kohler Courage puffs smoke

Kohler Engines has a Service Bulletin/Kit that addresses smoking during operation at an angle on the Courage Twin engine. The engine was found to be oversensitive near the full oil level. The problem is most prevalent on applications where the engine rests with the dipstick in an even slightly up/raised position. The kit includes a gasket to better seal the breather system and a modified dipstick that lowers the oil level just slightly. You may find leveling the engine/unit on a slight incline on your yard or driveway, and then adjusting your oil accordingly may solve your problem without the update. The Kawasaki on my 60" tank exhibits the same scenario. I just run it halfway down the dipstick.
