Kohler 10 Hp. Carb problems

I have a Kohler K241 10 hp. on my Lincoln welder. It has a fixed jet. The only adjustment screw is for the idle mixture. Ever since it was new (about 15 years ago), the motor will hesitate when throttled up from an idle. Sometimes, the motor will sputter and die. Other times it will come right up to speed. I don't use the welder a lot and I drain the gas when it sits for a long period. I've tried gumout and carb cleaner with no results. Any ideas on a fix?

Have you tried taking out the jet and cleaning it? They will some times get partially clogged and you have to remove and
clean,be carefull not to damage.
