Well the good ole ck20 finally let me down on friday. Was cleaning snow of sidewalks with bucket. Ran for an hour, then loaded it on the trailer and drove to the next spot about 3 miles away. I went to start it and it turned right over as normal and a metal on metal clunking noise was heard instantly in the motor, So I turned it off. Started it again few minutes later to make sure I was really hearing what I did not want to hear, and the awful noise was still there. So i dropped it off at the dealer yesterday and cant wait to hear what they find. The motor still runs, it sounds like one of the pistons is coming around on its stroke and hitting some thing. That is all I can describe it as. So I hope they will get into it tomorrow and see whats going on with it. Any Ideas?????? Fingers crossed

Natem I hope it is something other than internal, like injector timing or the like.

But sounds like something bad.

Would've been interesting if you pulled the oil plug and see what you'd see.

Good luck,
Are you under warranty?

Moisture in the fuel can cause really bad noises....

Dealer said it was still under warranty. I bought it in september of 2007, I think it had a three year.

I agree with BTI
I had the same issue with my dozer and I swore I threw a rod!
Diesels make some very BAD noises when they dont get the right fuel at the right time.

You should be fine after a drain and flush:D

Called dealer to find out status, said he started it when I first droped it off and heard noise. Started the next day and did not hear it. Was going to Check it out today.

That is the typical thing that happens when there is water in the fuel.

Quite scary....

I think you are fine.

This may not be the right place for this question, but I got fuel today toped off my Yellow Fuel container, and as I filled it I had to stop a couple or time to wait for the foam to go down to continue filling the container, being new to diesel is this normal? Thanks, worried it might be water or some other contaminate or maybe just normal.

I don't know what fuel you are using but if you are using the ultra low sulfur when it gets cold it starts to gel, and will cause all kinds of problems. If it set outside for a long time and not worked or if the fuel got froze up from the snow this could be your problem. And thats why now its not doing it in the dealers heated garage. Just a thought.
