What really irks me is that it would not take much to flash error codes on the hour meter.
At a MINIMUM we ought to at least get that!
I was asked by my Kioti dealer what dash I had. Apparently from my understanding of the conversation some have this now?. Mine does not.

Mine is a 2001 DK4510, as far as I know it does not.

Interestingly, I picked up a fuel filter from my dealer just before closing time, and mentioned your NX tractor CEL issue and proprietary engine codes. According to him, some larger horsepower Kioti's do flash multiple codes on the dash when CEL lights come on (apparently its dash dependent), and all Kioti tractor models by starting year 2023 will be code flashing. A significant help in diagnostic achievement.

During the past 3-years on this forum, a faulty fuel injector more than once, has been identified as a primary cause of a tractor going into limp mode. The excess fuel is unburned, and clogs the DOC/DPF. Happily, the problem can be immediately identified by the dealers laptop. Resolution is replacement of the faulty injector, and is covered by warranty.

Minnesota Eric, much thanks for that post and summary of your regen experience. I read it twice. It never even occurred to me, that a tractor could show a successful regen happening on the dash, but actually NOT BE DOING a regen due to low exhaust temperature thresholds. It just shows very much the needs to keep those rpm's high during a regen to clear out the DPF..

So just an update here. Speaking with the dealer they said that it could be crank sensor related and to unplug the crank sensor while the CEL light is on to see if the tractor will rev up past the limp mode. This was for a diagnose test only and not to be run without it connected. I did not do this.

This morning I started the tractor. No CEL light (I assume the prior code may be stored in memory.) I warmed up the tractor and then used the hand throttle to basically do a regen without pushing the button. Not sure what else happens in the computer / tractor when the button is pushed? So I ran it for approximately 15 mins at 1500 rpm. Then went to 2200 for probably 5 mins. Then full throttle for probably 30 mins. then ran it at 1600 rpm for again for another couple minutes. Then idled it down for a few minutes. The CEL never came on.

After that I shut it off then started it back up and ran a manual regen. The regen light came on and it started the cycle. I came back a while later with the tractor idling and no CEL light on. Seems to have gone through a cycle on its own. Before it was shutting down with a CEL light.

Told the dealer what I did and am monitoring it. We are going to run it next week and see what happens.

Worse, since Kioti is a small player in the broad diesel industry, universal diesel code readers do not support Kioti. All to say that anytime the "right to work" legislation comes up, vote, "YES!"

I tend to agree with your assessment: something is lying to the ECU that eventually causes the ECU to trip into limp home mode. While not directly related to Sean2202's problem let me tell you a Kioti limp home mode story: In 2014, when I first got my NX, my tractor went into limp home mode because while the ECU claimed it was regenerating (every 8-12 hours), it never got the engine high enough up to temperature to complete a regeneration cycle. As a result, my new 60hp tractor was absolutely gutless. At the time I was super frustrated, and any negative thing said on these forums was ridiculed or deleted. My fix for the poor running condition, as well as the diesel industry fix (because fleets were experiencing the same problem as the limp home problem was a Tier IV spec problem and not just a Kioti problem) was to install a warmer thermostat that allowed the engine to run at a higher minimal engine temperature, one that was warm enough to

1) Stop the engine from continually running on the warm-up fuel map thereby plugging the DPF at a much faster rate, and
2) Also allowing the engine to be warm enough to fully complete a regeneration cycle so the machine wouldn't eventually get tripped into a limp home condition because the DPF was plugged up.

Here is a video of my frustration with my tractor in 2014 before I puzzled out the problem and installed that warmer thermostat.

Also, I should add that if the thermostat has a spring-loaded bypass, then that too can cause the same problem with excessive warm-up times while in use as the coolant can overcome-that weakening spring-loaded bypass and slip right by the thermostat entirely. The condition will act similar to a T-stat being stuck open.
But of course knowing what you stated "Kioti is a small player in the diesel industry" you purchased one anyway. Will your crying about Kioti products ever cease? :poop: Not kiotis fault you used your tractor like a bull dozer then started tampering with everything under the sun on your tractor then complain they won't warranty it.If you hate your tractor so much SELL IT and quit your Pi$$ing and moaning.

Sean: Happy you got the manual regen started, and cleaned out the emissions issue. Thanks for the feedback.

So an e mail to the dealer to update them on the issue. On the reply the dealer still states that there was "water in the fuel filter and then it got into the injection system" even after telling them multiple times that there was no trace with water detecting paste. They continued to tell me that the fuel filter needs to be changed and drained according to manual. Which I have done. I have also changed the fuel filter two times in 140 hours. Which I would say is excessive especially at about 100 dollars for a fuel filter. Hopefully if there is or was any impurities in the system they are gone.

I will continue to monitor and will update the thread if anything comes from it.
