If I have a dealer tell me that a Kioti is a Kubota built machine, am I to believe him? If the Kioti is only a Kubota colored tractor then, Who builds whats under the paint? I have heard from a couple of sources that own the Kioti and are very pleased with the same. A 25 H.P 4 WD. Kioti with Power Steering is 10,500.00 at a local dealership. Does anyone have any solid information to clear up these questions. A certain member of this forum even dared me to ask these questions. I'm brave...Cause I wanta know. Thanks in advance.

According to a post in http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=buykubota&Number=3203&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5, Kioti is made by Daedong, which may explain why the brand name is Kioti. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I also suspect the Kioti folks would be very happy with the myth that they're re-badged Kubota's being perpetuated. They certainly don't look like Kubota's, not even the 20 year-old gray-market rice paddy rejects.

My experience is that at least 9 out of 10 people say they're happy with whatever they purchased for a while, at least. I thinkg it's because it makes them feel stupid to say they're not happy with something too soon after purchasing it.

I wouldn't own a Kioti myself. Reason: I don't have a clue who Daedong is, I'd worry very much about getting parts, I don't know how reliable they are, and every one I've ever seen looks like it was designed in the 50's, and I'm not into that. If I want a 50's tractor, I'll buy some genuine American iron and at least get the right to hang some cool old antique signs up in the garage. For modern, I'll stick with my Kubota. Other than that, I think Kioti's are great... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

You have to wonder about a dealer that does not tell the truth about who builds the tractor they are selling. Will you trust them later if the tractor does not work and they tell you what kind of repair is needed. When I was first looking at tractors I visited 3 different Kioti dealers. All 3 dealers lied to me. You may want to look at this thread:

Mark and Andy... I checked out the sites you suggested. I have a better understanding of what the dealer was TRYING to tell me now. The Kioti must be a "wanta be" Kubota. I have checked out some of the Kubota's they are higher than the Coyotes. however with the information I have in hand I can make a better decision of what I will buy. New Holland and Kubota look better by the minute. Thanks for your response and your un-biased approach...Did I mention the name Mark and Un-Biased in the same sentence? :)

MarkC,

The real question is: If the Kioti is running on Amsoil does that make it a better tractor? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Jim,
I'm just trying to keep Kubota and New Holland issues equal.

I'm detecting that your influence has turn future tractor owners toward New Holland.....yikes.(

Have a great day and be good to yourself.

Oh, no doubt about it, Jim. But it doesn't compensate for the lying dealers Andy mentioned.

Besides, where they start out is where they start out. A Kioti with Amsoil might be as good as a NH without it, but put Amsoil in the NH, and it's head and shoulders better again. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Sorry, I couldn't stand the pressure - but I think you'll agree that I've been laying off NH bashing lately. Except this time... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Cowboy - Hey, I never claimed to be unbiased. I only said I don't have any brand loyalty. I have a very definite and vocal bias toward (what I think is) the best in anything.

I don't always buy the best, though. For example, when I was researching charcoal grills (see the topic in the 'Off Topic' forum), I found several that I'd rather have more than the one I ordered, but not for 5 or 6 times the price.

And the same goes for tractors. If someone (like Fendt) ever comes out with a compact utility tractor that I think is considerably better than my Kubota, I'll switch, unless it's a lot more expensive than I can justify from the advantages. Everything has it's price and sometimes that price is too high. If a person were in the market for a tractor and had only just enough for a Kioti and no more, with no way of getting more, and couldn't find a bargain in a used tractor of reputable pedigree, then I'm sure the Kioti would be better than not having a tractor at all. But that's not at all the same as comparing it to other brands. If your original question had been "I've only got so much money and the only tractor I can find for that amount is a Kioti - would a Kioti be better than nothing?", well, I'm sure the responses would've been quite different.

Cowboy,
for $10,500 I'd look at the Kubota "economy" L series (L2500, L2600, L3000) You may be able to find a left over L2500 for about $500 more in 4wd with p/s. The L2500 is now called the L2600 for 2000 with maybe a few changes. visit http://www.carverequipment.com/L_Series/l2600.htm for info and prices.

The "economy" L series is basically the old L design held over in a couple of models to be "low" price machines. I'm very happy with my L2500DT. It will be 2 yrs old in a week with ZERO problems to date. Other manufatures do the same in offering "economy" tractor (ie: the JD 970) but you are already looking at the right color tractors......ORANGE. The lack some of the features of the newer designs ( no hydro or GST, no R4s, no cup holder,....) but have a great price. I don't think the Kioti has these any way so they are probably the closest comparison.

Guess that about says it all. 10 replies and none very favorable to Kioti. Sure can't say they are bad, as I only know one person who has one and he seems to be happy with it so far.

Maybe you can do about as well in price in the wide range of Kubota tractors. NH & JD makes good tractors, too, but watch out for a blue owner on the board that thinks he gets 68 hp out of his 18 hp NH tractor! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif He may really need Amsoil this time.

Wen,

Just when I think we're cool, there you go again, misbehaving! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif I guess it takes a 68 hp Kubota to pick on a 18.5 hp (don't forget the .5!) New Holland! That's about par! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I actually did forget the 0.5. Obviously, what one intends to do with their equipment has a lot to do with what is selected. I would really die here with your tractor, and you could not use mine effectively.

I always liked Ken Hern's recommendations in the Owner Built Homestead, who I admired for his approach to having something with very little income. He used a small tracked loader and a small B Kubota tractor with a Unimog truck. I looked into similar stuff, but it cost too much new and takes an awful lot of work used. I could forgo the truck, but it takes a lot of tractor and traction to come close to what the little tracked loader will do and you know that a small tractor can handle the tractor chores IF you can find a way to do all the things that it cannot do.

I believe the Kubota he recommended was about 18 hp. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Okay. Everyone can relax. My new choice in a sub-compact tractor is......................... a L3010-GST. The color by the way is <font color=orange>. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Dealer priced me one for 13,873.00 (10% over invoice). and financing at 6.49% good thru- 05/31/2000. All I have to do now is, prove to my wife that you other orange lovers out there know what you are talking about.(FYI-she picked out the 3010) I thank each of you for your input and assistance. Sorry NH /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Evening Thomas...If everything goes accordingly. the day dream will be a reality by this time tomorrow evening and, my wife thanks you for the compliment. Just one problem...she wants the keys to either the new 3010 or to my pre-53 Golden Jubilee. Should I give up either? /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

/ Kioti or Kubota #19
Cowboy,

You have a pre-1953 Golden Jubilee? Did I miss something, around here we call that a 1952 Ford 8N! /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Cowboy,
Hope you didn't toss and turn last night to much thinking about the new 3010 Kubota.

Your wife deserve key for both tractors, for she stood beside you and work with you not against you.

Heck, maybe you better give your wife a big hug and a kiss also.

There was a post not to long ago where a gentleman wrote,as he laid in bed his wife was reading the operator's manual.
His wife I believe help him better to understand the information he was looking for.

Have you got a place all clean out to in the barn etc.. yet ?)

Have a great day.
