Tractor
Kioti LB1914
I have a Kioti LB1914 with a manual forward reverse shifter.

Problem: Tractor will not move

When I press in the clutch I can do the following:

Rear PTO will engage and disengage as it should using clutch pedal.
I take it this means the clutch is good?

I can shift through the gears using the clutch pedal with the forward reverse shifter in the neutral position.

When I shift into the forward or reverse position I hear grinding tractor wont move in either direction.

Hydraulic is full.

Any ideas? Possible bad shuttle shifter? Anyone ever have this problem?

Thank You for any help.

Hi Jim. Can't give you an answer cause I'm pretty sure I've got the same problem. I have the same model Kioti and it barely moves now. When I put it in gear and move and then depress the clutch it stops like I put the brake on. I forgot to put the block in under the clutch pedal last winter when I put it away. It sits for 4 or 5 mo. My manual says to put the block in to keep the clutchplate from warping. I hope you get an answer soon. I think we've got the same problem or close. My kioti is a 2000 yr model w/666 hrs. it's been a good workhorse for me. Good luck on the solution.

A 2 stage clutch can have a good PTO disk and a worn main disk so a PTO can work and a main drive can slip. Grinding when trying to engage F or R would indicate the clutch not fully releasing, perhaps part of the lining has come off and is wedging between the disk and pressure plate, or I suppose could be warped, preventing the clutch from fully relasing. What about HI LO range? have you tried both? sometimes a tractor will go in lo range but slip in HI that is a good indicator of a worn out clutch. Blocking the clutch prevents rust from binding the disk to the plates and/or flywheel. I don't think the disk would "warp" from sitting idle. Good possiblilty the tractor will have to be split open to see.

Thanx Blue Chip. I didn't wanna hear that (split) but I'm sure that's the case. The workshop manual calls it a dry type single-plate clutch. Is that different from a double stage? A novice here and not ready to split the thing. I think a pro is in order here. Is there enough difference in these small tractors that I should look for a kioti trained mechanic? The closest one is a days drive. Others much closer.
Thanx for the information.

I always blocked my clutch when I store my Kioti. My problem happened after using it last season just before I put it up.
High range and low range dosn't matter still not moving.
Sounds like it may be a clutch just wanted opinions before tearing it apart.
Looks like a tough question to answer based on the few responces.
I will also call a dealer and ask him this question. Maybe he can provide an answer.
Got alot of balls in the air this project is just one of them. I am sure if there are 2 of us with a similar problem there are more.

Thanks for the help so far.

Dickr: you sure your brakes arent stuck?

Yes I checked the brakes. I have found that I don't have the problem in 2 wheel drive. Just when I put it in 4 whl. Then when I go to move say in 3 gear hi range and try to coast it feels like I stepped on the brakes hard. When I lift the front wheels off the ground they spin quite freely in 2 or 4 whl drive. I would think they shouldn't spin when in 4 whl drive. Appreciate the advice, it has got me thinking. Thanx

Hmm that sounds like a diffrent problem than a clutch.
If it was a truck I would be looking at the transfer case. Its a tractor and I don't know that much about them.

I am leaning toward Clutch with my Kioti. I have yet to have time to call my local dealer for his opinion. He's a great guy and supports my tractor even though I bought it privatly.

Hey Jim & dickr:

Can you give us some feedback on what you found out about your problem, please, and what the fix was? There is not a whole lot of troubleshooting on the LB1041 around, so your experience will be valuable to the rest of us that are not in trouble yet.

Thanks.

Crank.

I don't know what the op's problem is, but I just had a similar issue with my 3054xs. The adjusting bolt on one of the three clutch release fingers stripped the threads out of the finger and somehow broke some of the release apparatus on the "pressure plate". Fortunately, parts are available to repair this damage, but the tractor must be split to accomplish the repair. My dealer, Batchelder Sales of Lebanon,Me. did the repair in a day. I spoke with the mechanic, Erik, who said he has had one other manual transmission tractor do the same thing; he believes the adjusting bolts are not threaded into the fingers far enough and looking at the two remaining fingers with the bolts intact, I agree
