Kioti (Daedong) DK50
Hi, I'm new, and I'm doing this for my dad to help him on the net. He is thinking about buying a new Daedong DK50 ( which is a Kioti ) with a factory Bucket on it, and we were hoping that someone in this forum could give us the good, the bad, and the ugly on these tractors.. Hope you can help.

First of all, welcome to tractorbynet.
Secondly, are you in Australia or another country where this model is normally imported? If in the US, I would skip buying this model which would be considered grey market here.

While I haven't seen many of the DK50, it is much like the older DK45 which was a very good tractor. I have not ever seen anything bad posted about that model.

It would be a good idea to fill out your profile. Go up to the top of the page and click on My Home and follow the links to enter personal information. This will help people who are near you to be of better assistance.

Hi John,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, he is in Australia, so I guess that your site is based in the USA.

The tractor he has been offered at the Daedong Dealer is a new (superceded) 2005 Daedong DK50 with a Bucket. The DK50, in Australia, is a Turbo engined model. The Deadong Dealers in Australia must have them all on special pricing as they are being replaced by the DK51, which has a lift up hood front bonnet. They are a standard tractor on the Daedong Australian market and are not considered "grey" down there.

I was also told that the Kioti (Daedong) is basically a Korean Kubota. Is this correct?

Also, where could I buy a Kioti or Daedong T shirt for my dad?

I have filled in my profile a little (at your suggestion - and no I'm not looking for a farmer-husband), but I am just a Farmer's daughter, not a farmer, and I live in a city. I am just doing this to help my dad out.

Thanks again and have a wonderful day!!! ... Riccarda /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I think you'll get the info you need, but not until tomorrow since many post in the morning here. Many, also, won't post again until Monday, at work.

I thnk the DK50 is almost the same as the older DK45, so those that have that model in the States might be able to give valid opinions.

It seems to me that the DK50 in the Daedong model is the 501, and the newer one is the 551, but I may not be correct on that.
The DK50 here has been discontinued as well, and they use a turbo diesel in the DK55 which is an awesome tractor that I have had the opportunity to use.

What I can tell you is that I've been on most models, and have found them all to be quite tough, and mostly easy to use.

I don't know anything about your father. If he is older and/or has any problems with his clutch foot, he may rather try going with a hydrostatic transmission tractor (like an automatic) but that would mean going down to the CK30 at this point.

Since you're asking about the DK50, I can only say that I don't think he would go wrong with that tractor based on the others I have used.

Thanks for helping out your dad with the internet. You're a good farmer's daughter.

Hi again John,

Thanks ever so much for your help. It's nice to communicate with nice people. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Yes, you are right - the new model is a DK551.

The DK50 that he is buying should be really good for him, as he had an old Kubota L295DT 4WD from new and he is keeping that to pull the medium fruit wagons. He will be fine driving it as he has had tractors for over 30 years, and still has his two big JD's for the crops.

He was going to buy a new Kubota 4WD 50 hp model (don't know the code), but they talked him into this Daedong.

I would love to be able to get him a Kioti T Shirt and Cap, but I can't seem to find any on the net? Any dealers out there sell them?

Cheers from Riccarda

ohhh and Mike, the net administrator - Try to smile. huh... It's not hard to be nice. Byieee.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Batche and thanks... I love your artwork!!!

My dad is in Australia, so I would have to arrange a payment to Wallace in the USA. So if you see this, Wallace, please let me know what's available.

I think he would be a size 2XL in a T, as he is a very big man.

Cheers from Riccarda. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

There is also merchandise available on Kioti's web site. I recently got a couple of hats, gloves, and a sweatshirt. I have to admit though, Wallace's shirts are the best by far. G'day /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Is that spelled right?

Hi again or G'day as Aussies say..

Yes, my parents are in Australia, but I live in Europe and will be going back in late April when my work contract resumes.

I would love to hear from Wallace as I would like to buy my dad his Kioti Shirts, Caps and stuff before I go back to Europe.

I might also get him some Kioto stickers to put on his Daedong,.... ohh and he ordered it this morning.. which is kewl and all croozy..

I have looked at the Daedong site for both Australia and the USA, and I wish that they were called a 'Kioti' in Australia too, as 'Daedong' sounds like 'Ding Dong' which is corny.

Thanks ever so much for the help from the Kioti Net Freaks here...

Love & Kisses.. Riccarda /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi Tractor Chick,

I purchased a DK65 almost two years ago and am very satisfied with it. I compared Kubota and Kioti and bought the Kioti; it was simply more for the money. I have mowed 73 acres, moved 1200 pound hay rolls, moved dirt and plowed with the DK65 and it does it all easily and well. Just from my personal experience, I recommend the Kioti. By the way, I'm in the USA, in East Texas.

it's G'day, Wallace... G'DAY !!!

OK, I have sent you an email requesting items to be posted to my dad in Australia.

... and we DON'T say 'Put another shrimp on the barbie'... that's an American fallacy that was made up by Paul Hogan for the American market. We don't use the word 'shrimp' here, we call them 'prawns' And we don't ride kangaroos down the road, or eat wallaby stew, or have wombats to dig holes for us, or use koalas as eucalyptus factories.

but..... we all say 'G'day!' and we all eat Vegemite!

Thanks for the help,

Riccarda..... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

G'day limpinkioti,

Thanks for the advice... It sounds like my dad's new tractor is just a little smaller than yours, but it will be great for him.

Cheers from Riccarda... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
