I was looking for a 6' rototiller. How good is a KK rototiller? What is the difference between KK & KK II?

Thanks

i couldn't tell you the differences between the two, but from what i have read from owners of the KK tillers they can take a beating and keep on going. FarmWithJunk has one if i'm not mistaken. personally if i had a use for a rotary tiller, the KK would probably be the one that i would buy.

I don't know enough about the orange KK smaller tillers to even comment. However, the KKII "yellow" tillers are tougher'n a $2 steak, reliable, and they do every bit as good of a job as the most expensive brands. I know of a couple large scale landscape contractors that have used KKII tillers for years with no issues. Mine has a ton of acres on it. I've worn out one complete set of tines and I'm about 1/3rd of the way through set #2. NO mechanical issues whatsoever. I've exceeded it's "rating" most of thetime I use it. Generally, I have it on the back of a 60hp tractor. On occasion, it's been used on 47hp. I've hit rocks, stumps, buried re-bar, and even SOME dirt. The KKII ISN'T "better" than the rest of the popular brands, but that's my point. It's AS GOOD and you'll find 'em everywhere, and find 'em at a good price (without EXTRA charges for shipping)

I'm NOT a big fan of MOST of the King Kutter product line. Th KKII tillers however, they have their act together on this one.

SCDolphin,

Go to the KK site and find a dealer in your area. Then go and look at the two units yourself, and I think you'll find that the KKII is a much heavier machine. If you have a TSC store nearby, they usually carry both lines.

I have the 5' KKII and I'm very impressed with it's "robustitude". I've tilled deep, through heavy, consolidated clay (after tightening the PTO slip clutch a few times), and I've dinged some 2 lb bread loaf sized cobbles in our sandy loam that put a good bounce on the tiller and some serious pucker on the operator.

So far, I've busted one tine and that was after a particularly abusive episode before I understood the importance of proper clutch adjustment. Depending on your soil conditions, you may not need the added cost, weight and grunt of the KKII, but as for myself, I'm glad that I got that unit and I have many folks on TBN to thank for the decision to do so.
