King Kutter 48" Rotary Cutter Assembly

I got a 48" cutter from Attwoods when I purchased my Summit tractor and it came 'some assembly required '. I've gotten it all setup except for getting the drive shaft onto the gearbox shaft. I've removed the ring and shear pin off the gearbox shaft and I incorrectly assumed that the drive shaft u-joint would just slide onto the gearbox. Will adding grease to the gearbox shaft do the trick?

Grease does help. Plus it keeps the moisture mostly out. So it is a good thing.

I bought my KK from Farm & Fleet, with minor setup needed. That was back in 2018. I wonder if more assembly is required now as minimum wages have jumped largely.

When I got my KK rotary cutter, I think I had to sand off the extra thick paint they had put on it. Yes, grease it first too.

I contacted them and that's exactly what they said to do. I removed it from the little bit left I had to go, after hitting multiple times with a rubber mallet, and it finally went on the rest of the way.
