recently purchased king kutter tiller. Put oil in and grease tiller as well as pto shaft. Had to cut down pto shaft by 2.75” to fit tractor. When pto in engaged all is well but once tiller touches the ground it make a loud banging sound. Any idea what the problem could be?

We are replacing the double seal behind the bearing set but we also noticed another shot rubber seal on the other side of the side transfer box toward the shaft. I don't see any mention of this nor where I can order a replacement? Can anybody who has taken one apart advise?
