May 17th, roughly 2 weeks difference here to there in seasons. Have a snow pile here should be gone tomorrow

I took some snow pics in our yard and I'll post them later today. Nonetheless, snow dumps have plenty and some years it lasts until July.

Dang. Having that much snow pack must keep the ambient air temps pretty chilled out, too.
Ok snow, it's may now. Time to go. The plants need at least a few months of growing season to make food for the critters.

We like a short spring but plants still grow weather its long or a short one. They simply grow faster when the ground temps come up. The dirt in our yard goes not normally freeze over the winter.

Thought so. We rarely get enough snow to prevent the ground from freezing anymore. Even if I bury things under 4-5' of leaves, they freeze solid. Have to take them indoors for the winter.

Absolutely, yes it does.
When I worked with heavy equipment as a young man, lots of continuous snow cover during the winter meant we could get to work earlier in the spring.
