Hello,
Every time I exit TBN, and reenter, I keep having to sign back on. I thought maybe it's something with my computer, but it doesn't happen with other web sites I visit. I have only been having this problem today. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Make sure you check off the "Remember Me?" button next to the log on screen. Also, check your cookie settings and make sure the "www.tractorbynet.com" domain is not in the blocked list.

Thanks for the tips. I have been checking the "Remember me" box. I don't know how to check the cookie settings, I'm not real sharp with computers. Is this easy to do or is this something I need to have someone show me in person? Thanks again.

Assuming you are using Internet Explorer (Firefox is similar but not identical):

Go to the tools menu, choose internet options

Go to the Privacy Tab

Click on the button that says "Sites"

If TractorbyNet.com is in the list, make sure it says "Always Allow" not "Always Block"

Yes I am using Internet Explorer. I tried that and had it on "always allow". I also just noticed that on my home page, which is MSN, that it doesn't remember my local weather also. When I go back to MSN, I have to put in my zip code each time to get my local forecast. I guess something's wrong with my computer and not just my access to this site.

As for the MSN page, You might try setting up "My MSN" It's in the upper left corner. I also had to keep logging in here until someone told me to NOT sign off. Just close with the X in top right. That did it for me. I also save it in FAVORITES for quick log in. Good luck

Thanks, Scott. That taught me something new, too.

Hadn't thought of the signout issue .... if you don't want to have to sign in, don't sign out. Good catch. If you're already doing this part right, one other thing to check:

Internet Exlporer
Tools Menu
Internet Options
Privacy Tab
Advanced button

Is the override button checked? If so, what options are selected? If "block" is checked, that would also cause the problem.

Chris,

What browser do you use? from time to time I do maintenance on computer to remove unwanted cookies and others bugs that attach themselves without being identifies. They are tracking cookies that follow your movement and some of the ads are catered specifically around the stuff you surf. Free ware like CCleaner and Ad-aware are great to get the pesky bugs out of your computer. Almost any where you go on internet they deposit a cookie on your computer that actually help quicker access to the page but it also allow them to link you IP address (Internet Protocol) to a site. it is weird the way it happened when you were logged out. You can only be logged out if you actually deleted session cookies or a auto maintenance was going on. I use Fire fox that allows you to have a decent Add Block add that gives you plenty of control over all the unwanted add, additionally Firefox allow you to save your login information in an encrypted file with a master password to fill it automatically like when you check your bank account, credit cards and other bills. Firefox takes a lot less computer resources and there is ton of free usefully stuff out there for it.

JC,

If you use explorer you can add Tractorbynet to your trusted site and along with "remember me" will save and use your session cookie.

Same here over the past couple of weeks, but its intermittent. Today it seems to be working OK, yesterday I couldn't switch sub categories without getting signed out. I do have new firewall software, but I have all the settings for expiration of cookies set for 7 days and have the same settings as I have always used in Netscape. No problems on other discussion boards, and like I said, this one is fine today.

I have been having the same problem for the past month. Today during the last hour and a half I have been logged out four times. This is the same computer and software that I have used for three years without having the problem. Wish I knew more about fixing computers; the log outs are becoming irritating.

Something i would like to know without starting a new thread is that when i email a photo on Outlook Express and then i go to the "sent" emails and look at that same picture and use the scroll wheel , i find about a hundred photos , icons and all sorts of things i have not even looked at . Most of the Avatars belonging to you guys are also there . How does this happen , and can someone do as i said and see if it happens to you also ?

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the MS Windows automatic updates with all the security patches? Still doesn't explain why this is the only discussion board (that I use) that behaves this way. Unless, the server that hosts this site has received some updates? The folks that have been having the same problem - do you receive the automatic updates from Microsoft?

No.

I have found my IP address was changing in a few incidents, however that does not explain Soundguys problem.
