Well, I did it again. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Yesterday, I bought myself another John Deere from my favorite dealer KC-Canary in Fultonville, NY.

This time I bought a 21" JX75 walk behind mower. See web pic attached.

We had shopped around and looked at different brands but decided to buy the JX75. We decided to purchase this model primarily based on reviews written up in Epinions. See link below. Click on 'Read Reviews' to review all 20 reviews from other buyers.

Epinions on the JX75 Walk-behind

The JX75 has an overhead valve, 6HP, 4-cycle Kawasaki engine with full-pressure lubrication. It's self propelled, 5 speed, gear driven transaxle. It has a BBC (blade/brake/clutch) safety system, recoil starter, seven cutting heights (.5 to 3.5 inches), and mulch, bag, and side discharge blow capabilities. It is a fine mower that is likely the Cadillac of push mowers. It even comes with a Cadillac price. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'm looking forward to giving its first work out today.

But, the subject of this post is more the fine dealer who sold this mower to me....KC-Canary of Fultonville, NY. I had been quoted a price a couple weeks ago by phone which sounded like a very reasonable price in line with what other Epinion reviewers had paid for their mowers. The price was also somewhat less than the price I had seen posted on this same JX75 at a nearby JD retailing competitor. So, I decided to buy from KC-Canary. When I arrived yesterday to complete my purchase I found that KC inadvertently quoted me an incorrect price which was a bit less than what it should have been. Nevertheless, they sold me the JX75 for the price which was initially quoted to me. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The reason I post this is the same reasons I've posted other accolades in previous threads about KC-Canary. This is another example of their ethical integrity. They quote a price and they stand behind it. I will attempt to make it up to them with the purchase of a dump trailer I want to make sometime over the next year or so.

So, if you guys and gals in upstate New York and surrounding states are looking for a good John Deere dealer who will treat you fair and square, do consider KC-Canary. Salesman Mark Brucker, Service Manager Jerry Stewart, and compact technician Jason Cook (Master Briggs & Stratton technician who does all set-up and servicing of JD compacts) are a class act. They're knowledgeable and will go out of their way to meet your needs, whether it be with a new tractor purchase or servicing a tractor you may already have. Just a fine bunch of folks to deal with.

Hi Bob!

Doesn't it feel great to have a GOOD experience once in awhile? It seems that most of the time, a guy is always scratching and fighting to just get what was promised, let alone a BETTER price then what he normally would get.

Yes, you have espoused the virtues of KC-Canary before. I hope I can find that good of a dealer when I'm ready to buy.

It's kind of funny that you posted this message just today. Yesterday, my wife and I were out looking over some properties we're considering purchasing for our "compound". As we drove around the countryside, she asked me if after we get the new place built, would we need to have a walk behind mower, or could my tractor do all of the mowing. I explained that IF we had all straight edges to our planting beds that the tractor and RFM could do the job. But with her penchant for having curved planting beds, I didn't think it'd work with the tractor.

And here you are, with a great JD 4710, going out and buying a walk behind. When I tell her that, maybe she'll really believe that I know what I'm talking about!

Enjoy the new toy!

Hi Garry. Always look forward to your posts....and I keep looking for that post that reads "Golfgar Buys His Tractor." /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Your wife has keyed you in to something. Actually, one reason we bought this JX75 is to cut around my wife's flower beds. No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to prevent the cut grass clippings from blowing into the beds when I use the JD425. My wife has a penchant for clean beds and well we finally have a push mower with a bag. This should do the trick.

Take care, my friend!!!

It's coming, Bob, it's coming!! You've got to admit, I said right from the start that it could take 2+ years.

Actually, I was just telling Jerry (Mrwurm) in a private message that the wife and I are now looking for our country land to purchase. We'll be putting our house up for sale next spring, but depending on when we get the land, and if I can figure out where to store a tractor and be able to work on it, I might get it sooner so that I can start clearing some of the new property. Now that we've finally reached the point of actually being able to do something, I think the time will go by really fast! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Off topic - I may contact you for a little information later this spring. We've been talking about taking a vacation in your neck of the woods this fall. We'd like to visit the Adirondacks, see your beautiful area in fall colors, and get up into Maine. I've sent for some information from all of the tourism departments, so once we get a chance to look things over and get some ideas of what we want to do, I may contact for a little giudance. I'll let you know.

Keep in touch. How are those barn renovations coming along? Are you all done with them, or do you have more to go?

Garry,

You might want to drop a line to to Jim Crowley (JC4HD) and Dan McCarty. I believe both these fellows store their tractors elsewhere as they are clearing their properties for building their camps and homes, respectively. They might be able to give you a few suggestions.

I'd be happy to help you out with the planning of your trip out this way. We took a trip out to Maine just two years ago and visited Bar Harbor. This is a wonderful place to visit....very relaxing. Lots of places to see and things to do also in Vermont and NH as well as in the Adirondacks. In fact, you're welcome to stop by my place if you have the time. It'll be great to meet you. I could show you the 4710. You may even want to take it for a spin to try it out and get a feel for it. I could show you the barn renovations which are mostly complete. Just a few cosmetic things to work on. I actually have to get back into the house this summer to finish renovation work on some of the rooms that are not quite done. This will be my primary focus next couple years along with continuing with the land clearing and hedgerow removal.

Sounds like you're making progress toward making that purchase of your tractor. This is good news.

Well, stay in touch and let me know if I can help out in any way.
