Kawasaki starter

Anybody have a mail order source for electric starter motor for a Kawasaki? I need one for a 17 horse singe cyl. motor and was quoted prices that seem like a lot. It's just a starter, not the whole engine for cryin out loud. I might have to take it apart an just order parts.

I buy mine from the local alternator / starter rebuilder.

Yep, they are expensive as all get out, $125 to $200, makes me try and remember to lube the bendix annually.

I also saw some on ebay in the last few days. If not some of the suppliers advertising on ebay may be a good source.

Where are you located? As AlanB said, a starter/alternator rebuilder would probably be your best bet. NAPA may be able to help.

The BMW dealer wanted 600.00 for a new starter for my sons motorcycle. The pulley had come loose and wore out the shaft so it needed a new armature. My local alternator repair place said he could get me a new one for 125.00 he checked and found that he could get me a new one not rebuilt for 185.00 I had him get me the new one. I think alans advice is sound go to an alternator/starter rebuilder and let them look at it.
