Kawasaki engine stalling - JD325

I have an 18 hp Kawasaki on my 325. While engaging mower deck when engine is cold...the engine stalls. If I wait until It's fully warmed up the engine will not stall and recover. thoughts?

Sounds like a carb/choke/governor issue

Does this engine have one cylinder or two? My Kohler was acting that way until I noted one cylinder wasn't working at all.

My 425 with twin Kawasaki engine will do that too when the power flow is also belted up to the mower deck.
A timely flick to "choke and off" at the same time the mower switch is pulled will catch the engine in time to keep it going.

Many Kawasaki's are cold blooded. Keeping your fuel in check IE fresh and clean helps. A little Seafoam every now and then doesn't hurt. Let it warm for now and update the fuel. Should it not be where you like it, you could delve into the carb at the next PM.

I have 2 Kawasaki's on JD Ztracks. I can tell you this will get to the point it will do it with the engine hot as well. Both of mine have. Both times it was the plugs. They looked good but after I changed them no more stalling.

I have an 18 hp Kawasaki on my 325. Kawasaki's engine is good.

Mine does the same thing. I just move the choke lever up until it starts to run a little rough then engage the PTO. I don't think there's anything wrong.
