Kama TS354C & Ferguson TO20
When I first crank it up the engine runs fine but after running and working the tractor for a while the oil pressure seems to drop and it runs as if a cylinder is missing or not getting the right fuel spray. No white smoke or unusually heavy smoke. I can get the engine to the 2400rpm mark early in the engine run but after it warms up I cant get it into the green 540 pto mark (approx 2200prm)I have had fuel problems before (rust in the tank) but I cleaned it out really well... any ideas?
Couple more things, the oil pressure drops but is still in the green and it is getting into the higher water temp ranges.

What engine oil are you using? What exactly did you clean on the fuel system when you had problems before? If it is running warm, how's the cooling system(air passages in radiator clean, full of fluid, pressure cap operating correctly ect)?

Zog,
How many hours do you have on your tractor now? I know you've been doing a lot fo work with it....
Have you done your valve lash adjsutment yet? I had a similar symptom on my 554 where I could not make rated rpm and an obvious loss of power at higher rpm. I decided to adjust the valve lash and found that 3 of the valves were out of spec...one by a lot. I adjusted each intake and exhaust valve to the middle of the tolerance suggested in the manual. I instantly realized more rpm (past pto rated) and way more power. Oil pressure was constant and water temp remained steady at 80/82° all day in near 100° heat. I don't know if this may be your problem or a part of it, but check it out.

I posted the proceedure on this board under Adjusting Valve Lash

There are posts about your engine as well.

( 3RR, That forum you posted is a joke. I put a few imformative posts on there and that moron moderator "thingy"
put a snotty response to every one saying i was just an internet mechanic... Guess he takes offense of any advice from someone who actually builds and designs engines for a living. The last post i asked what his credentials were, and if he ever even timed in a camshaft on an engine before because if he did he wouldnt make smart comments to my posts, and why anyone would have made someone like him a moderator, basicly giving him the same responses he gave me and he banned me... funny stuff. I guess he just wants comments there from guys who "i did this one time" kind of guys. )

ha ha, not laughing at you Schmalts, I got the axe also and not by Thingy. Seems they don't like when you post the correct way to adjust valves on the true base circle of the cam and post the link to Comp Cams company backing up what one posts. Guess thats like taking a dump in someones mess kit. Guess its best to steer away, well us internet mechanic's who do it for a living anyway. Engine designers and the owner of a Diesel service company just do not have what it takes to sit under the shade of that tree.LOL

I take it you saw what i posted?? Did you post something similar? He is such a rookie i doubt he knows what base circle or overlap, and duration even is. what a dork.
I think it got to him when i asked what his credentials were. He actually posted that no one should listen to me becuase i was just an internet mechanic. Its funny. that will be a real great website with a bunch of guys giving each other advice about something fumbled through ONCE!

No I didn't read what you posted, it would be a cold day in **** before I went there.
But I must say I am sorry, I just got a PM on another board and was informed you got kicked off because you sounded like me and from what I was told Thingy didn't ban you another member did.
So thank you for sounding like me, but it was your demise that you did.
Sad that my IP is banned and they can't tell the difference between mine and yours.
LOL would be something to meet someday and see if we look alike also.
This has happened before, not the ban part, but my nephew comes on here and since we both live in Wester PA some thought we were one in the same.
Hey maybe you can file for hate crimes, after all they got the wrong guy.
All kidding aside, sorry the children mistook you for me

To answer a few questions...
The machine has 40 hrs on it and I have not changed the oil Chip put in it, the oil looks realy good though. The water temp in my opinion doesnt have anything to do with the problem but I thought I would throw it in because you never know! I did find the water a little low and the radiator had a some debris in it from brush hogging. What I think are the real symptoms are lack of rpm when warm & oil pressure drop, the valve adjustment may be the culprit - thoughts??

I got a 354 from Chip. My observations so far at 25 hrs are this. THe guages leave a lot to be desired. he tractor runs great. I was hooking up my brush hog, got back on tractor. RPMS read 0, as soon as i touched the throttle it jumped back up. Sometimes at full throttle it reads 2200, sometimes 2000. No perceptable chg in RPM tho.

You are getting close to the 50 hour service, valve adj and head bolt torque. while many don't perform this maintanence, my take is it cant hurt. It is normal for the Oil pressure to drop as engine heats up, the oil gets thinner. the spec for oil pressure at operating temp at idle is right on the line between the red and green on the gage. Be sure the rocker arm are getting oiled while you are in there. Be sure to change the oil before 50 hours, the fines generated by the break in can clog the filter screen (althoug not as easy as it can with chinese oil). what does exhaust smoke look like when running rough? does the engine seem to be missing? If so you can crack the fitting loose at each injector where the hard line meets (be careful high pressures here, eye protection and gloves recommended) The pressure is high but volume low so if you crack it open enough, it should jsut dribble. find the one that does not affect the engine when opened. If it is idling, I'm thinking valve adjustment. be sure to do the adj after the retorque.
