Today this thought popped in my head as I'm getting the woodstove ready for the next fire. I dipped the damp paper towel into some ash and cleaned up the door glass in a jif. I don't know if it is the most important thing I've learned on TBN, but one of most clever things I use. Thank you to those who posted it. I grew up around tractors built in the 40's. So when it was time to learn about more modern equipment, I came and learned and am thankful for the forum. I get lots of good thoughts and things out of the Rural Living forum. I try to give back where I can.

So why are you are here? Or is there a tidbit that you've gleaned from the forum that stands out?

Some days I learn, some days I can help others learn, some days I fail at both, but as they say you can learn a lot from a dummy. But everyday I try to be upbeat and positive. I hope I succeed more days than I fail. Kind words are never out of style.

Tractor guys (and gals) have above average common sense!
Same goes for machinists.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I would have no interest in a forum devoted to high altitude mountaineering.. though I do read of misadventure there from time to time.

Tractor and implement shopping to start and then homestead advice, vehicles/tools and more recently legislation that affects all of the above…

Not one day passes that I don't learn something while I'm here. I try to share what I know, but often fail at that endeavor.
IMO when a person stops learning, they are likely patting dirt on the grave.
It certainly will be in my case!

All the best, Peter

I've learned some things by coming on hear and hopefully have been able to help a few people by passing on what I know and have learned sometimes the hard way. When I was a young apprentice lineman learning the trade I was told by an old lineman that I worked with and trusted to pay attention to all these lineman that we work around because some of them will teach you what to do and by watching other's you will learn what NOT to do, that advice served me well and kept me alive to meet my goal and become an OLD lineman, that same logic can be used here, "you gotta filter what a few of these folks post. Charlie.

I joined Muhammad’s Kubota forum in 1999 when I decided that it was time to get the tractor that I would like for my retirement. Made the switch over to TBN in 2000. I did get my B2910 in 2000. Been a very good tractor for me. Retired in 2004 and bought a motorhome. During my travels I was able to visit many TBN members. Including Muhammad and his family. Today I stick to Rural living part of the forum to continue hearing from those friendships. Mostly Good Morning thread.
I follow other parts of TBN when I need help with my two B2910’s I look for information on here first. I also find help in maintaining and using my 12 attachment.
Like others have said. Just the right group to be part of.

I've found this forum to be the most diverse group of practical knowledge. I started when I bought a small piece of land and had my house and barn built. I needed support for my NorTrac (Jinma) tractor. After that, it's been just safety and rural living. I love seeing all the ideas people have. They certainly will impact my forever home when I find/build it in the coming years.

When I can, I've contributed based upon my knowledge and experience.

Just what am I doing here??
I generally read about other's tractor problems, and help out when I have something to contribute... or bank the knowledge when someone else provides a solution or advice. It's amazing how much I've learned here on TBN over the years.

Bought land and a tractor in 2018 after dreaming of doing this my whole life. Came for the practical knowledge of tractors, stayed for the practical knowledge of just about everything. The folks on TBN generally tend to be older, have the means to have lead a pretty full life of many different types of experience and are willing to honestly share their experiences for the betterment of their fellow man. I have learned A LOT about A LOT of different things here, what is not to like?

Grew up on a hobby farm, went to college, entered corporate world. When I was about to retire I decided I wanted to get back to the open spaces, and have a reason to be outside a lot. Bought 10 acres, built a house, bought a tractor and implements and have been at it for almost 10 years now.

As soon as I got the tractor I searched out a place to learn more about it. Found this great site. I wish I could post more solutions than I do, but I don't have the experience or knowledge that many of you have. I'm a far better tractor operator and "mechanic" (I use the term loosely) having been on this site for a while. Thank you.

Started here when it was a Kubota forum. Then Muhammed went all inclusive with other brands.
Ive learned a lot and hopefully shared some knowledge.
Only problem I have with this site is it gives me way too many ideas. Too many projects. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I found this place after purchasing a grey market Yanmar tractor and just stayed around
Substitute Kioti for Yanmar, and you've got my story. Was considering buying one but wasn't familiar with the brand, Google search led here. Just lurked for a couple years, finally joined. Enjoy the community.
Staying off the back porch limits exposure to religion, politics, etc., neither of which interest me much.

Grew up as a kid with grandpa and an old 1962 Guldner 2 cyl 2 stroke diesel (16Hp), hinted to the wife for over twenty years when a Kubota commercial came on TV that "Ohhhhhhhhhh" and like MANY in 2020. I could swing a cab tractor.........and having loved doing tractor work since then. And also help new tractor owners with things I didn't know when I was a newbie.

Found site as I was in the market for a new tractor. Got tired of dinking with an old Farmall after a rebuild. Needed turn key and go, with safety features for small acreage.

Grew up over the years in all aspects of life and equipment.
