5530 Mahindra 4x4
I have been reading in the Mahindra section for many months now (never joining???) and have found a lot of the conversation insightful and interesting.

I guess the reason I had not joined was, if I had a question that I wanted to ask if I looked through the forum posts I most generally found the answer

(Except hydraulic psi for tractors)

But anywho I just wanted to say hello, and hopefully I may be entering the relm of Mahindra ownership in the coming months:
Looking at a 5530 4x4 at Blue Valley Tractor and Supply(Seem like good folks)

Again thanks for the many interesting and informative posts.

Welcome friend. Mahindra is a great company. Having good dealer support is priceless.

I just purchased a 5530 this year... Love it! Great tractor.

I bought a 5530 this past spring and I am truly impressed with all that it can do. Be sure to load the tires, way more stable. Spent the last 2 days bush hogging, if the machine would drive over it, it shredded it:D

I was interested in opinions on tire options.
Ag vs. Industrial

I live with osage orange and thorny locust. LOTS OF THORNS

I was planning on filling the tires, but not sure what with. Windshield washer fluid, RV watertank antifreeze, or Rimguard.
I have not done any price comparisons

But was just interested in what everyone had out there and what they liked the best.

EMB5530,

Regarding the tires, my last tractor (a Kubota L4400) had Ag tires and my new 5530 has industrial tires. Even though the Ag tires were loaded (washer fluid from the dealer), the weight is still not as much as with my 5530 with unloaded tires. That said, the Ag tires had much better traction. It was almost too good... they would start digging downwards at first slip of the tires leaving holes wherever there was wheel spin. This was not good for my pastures or lawn, and is why I went with industrial tires on the new tractor. The Ag tires were so aggressive that they would rip up the lawn or pastures when turning unless you were going extremely slow (not practical when mowing or harrowing pastures but fine when getting around the lawn). The 5530 is bigger and heavier and easier on the ground with the R4 tires. I do plan on getting the tires loaded with Rimguard when it goes in for it's first service. I know this is not an "Apples to Apples" comparison, but I am glad I went to industrial tires over ag tires. Lastly, I never had a problem with the washer fluid... just going w/ Rimguard because that is what the Mahindra dealer fills tires with.

Emb5530 what part of the country are you in

My vote is for Ag tires. Have spent a lot of time this summer brush hogging locust, hedge, and willows. The locust and hedge come with thorns and I am not the most careful guy when it comes to missing them.

Both front tires developed leaks, but are holding up just fine after filling them with Slime leak proofing. Rear tires have been over some large thorns and have yet to be punctured, or if they have they are not leaking.

If you are looking at Blue Valley Tractor then I am probably in your part of the country.

I live in North East Kansas

I also have many different sets of tire chains that I plan on linking togther for winter but could also use them for times when more traction is needed.

So a little less traction may not be too much problem, but the pain of installing and removing chains must be weighed!

I am also in the KC area, on the KS side. I put about 10 hours on my 3215 this past weekend. Great tractor.

I tried buying from Blue Valley but went with Straub International out of Wichita instead and have not regretted the decision one bit.

PM me if you would like more information.

I lived in Olathe for 12 years before moving to the unincorporated area of Johnson County. I bought from BV tractor in 2007. My 3215 has been great and the dealer has been okay. They deal more in zero turns I think. I had one warranty claim completed by them and it took them longer than I expected. I saw Straub at the Topeka Farm Show and they seem very squirt away.

Agreed on the pallet forks. I use them all the time.
