Matthew is exactly who sold us ours.

I just picked up one of these 60" delivered for $925.

219 MTL HD Root Grapple Buckets - $999 Special — MTL Attachments

Some will say not HD, blah, blah blah. For general farm cleanup 4 to 5 times a year works just fine.

That's a good looking grapple. Are you using it on your NX5510? I am looking at those and also the Tomahawk brand. Both look pretty good to me. As you pointed out, I won't be using it to make a living, just cleaning up the place. I am leaning more towards a root rake though. Something I can use to run under saplings and such. The bracing on the front of the tines seems like it would do more dirt moving than I would like. Might not be a big deal though. Definitely a great price.

Yeah, that sounds like my videos.

I have a 72" rock bucket I rarely use. If you need to hold off spending the $ for the grapple for a while, you could borrow it. Not nearly as efficient as a grapple, but can get a lot of awkward stuff that regular bucket can't. Would be good for gathering/moving a lot of brush to a burn pile.

I can't get it to separate rocks from dirt though which is why I bought it. My dirt is all red clay so everything just sticks together, nothing sifts well.....

Matthew is the best to deal with. I did a LOT of shopping when buying mine and he was by far the best person I talked with at any dealership in our area.

That's a generous offer. Thank you! I'll let you know if I need to borrow it. I agree with you about Matthew. He's been very patient and has been willing to answer all my questions.

Hi everyone.

First time post from a long time lurker. My wife and I are building on 35 acres (15 tillable, 20 in woods) and "should" be moving in next month. I'll have 1/4 mile of gravel drive to maintain, a few acres to keep cut, and a bunch of projects to keep me busy on the new toy. I ordered it with a 6' box blade & a 6' cutter.

Our property needs a lot of cleanup. It was a piece of a family farm until about 45-50 years ago. Since then, no one has bothered to keep up with the edges of the cleared land, so there's all kinds of garbage growing wild on the edges about 10' deep. So I need to get a grapple too. I feel like a kid with Christmas a week away waiting for this tractor...lol.

Anyway, I've learned tons from posts on this site, so I just wanted to say, "Thank you!". And...get my first post out of the way.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard TBN and getting a new NX4510HST. I bought mine 28 months ago and have lots of fun and done plenty of work with it since. Other than a few quirky issues it has been a great tractor to use. It has plenty of power coming from my older 27HP tractor to this rig. The difference was night and day. The only real issues that I have had were the pin on the low to high shifter lever sliding out. I ran a wire thru it and tied it in place. It has been fine ever since. Most recently I had the handle lever controller go south on me. This tractor is a work horse. Be careful in heavy brush as you can easily tear the boots on the tie rod ends. I have been planning on making a set of extened covers but have yet to find the time to do it. I tried to get a local shop that does a lot of bending to make me a set but they said that they can't bend a 180 degree part. I would need to have two parts made for each side and weld them together.

Thanks for the tips JimR. I'll take a look at those spots as soon as I can and try to be proactive. I have a cousin who is married to a fine man who happens to be a welder for local NASCAR team. I'm planning to talk to him about some protection for the front axle bits as well as a screen for the brush bar since I have a grapple I plan to use. If we come up with something worth sharing I certainly will.

Two other areas to mention are the hydraulic filter on the right hand side of the tractor. Catching a large branch on this will bend it right around pulling off the hydraulic intake hose from the motor. That happened to me. The fuel tank is one more area where large branches can bend the tank brackets. I make a point to not drive over brush piles or branches on my woods roads. They can do more damage than the time it takes to get off the tractor and move them or to just move them out of the way using the bucket. Work smart, not harder whenever possible. Please do post photos if you make any guards.
