Hi everyone.

First time post from a long time lurker. My wife and I are building on 35 acres (15 tillable, 20 in woods) and "should" be moving in next month. I'll have 1/4 mile of gravel drive to maintain, a few acres to keep cut, and a bunch of projects to keep me busy on the new toy. I ordered it with a 6' box blade & a 6' cutter.

Our property needs a lot of cleanup. It was a piece of a family farm until about 45-50 years ago. Since then, no one has bothered to keep up with the edges of the cleared land, so there's all kinds of garbage growing wild on the edges about 10' deep. So I need to get a grapple too. I feel like a kid with Christmas a week away waiting for this tractor...lol.

Anyway, I've learned tons from posts on this site, so I just wanted to say, "Thank you!". And...get my first post out of the way.

Cheers!

To the TBN forum. I would say that it DID take you a long time to finally post.

Congrats on the new building.

Thanks mddorange!

You're right, I've been reading here for almost 2 yrs. Started seriously shopping last year in the summer. I tried to set a budget, but in the end, I had to accept that if I was going to get what I wanted, I would just have to bite the bullet and pay the man. I spent so much time shopping and researching that I feel like I need a new hobby now that I have ordered...lol.

And thanks for your service mddorange! I was USAF myself. I flew C-130s at Pope AFB on active duty, then spent the rest of my career with NCANG. I retired 4 years ago and retired after 28 years.

So, which version of C-130 did you drive, H's & the Super J?

Back in Country it was all A's, B's and H's. Was in the 314TAW out of CCK, Taiwan.

ratchman - Welcome to TBN and the forum. Not to worry - that big 'ol smile WILL NOT freeze on your face.

Suggestion - get a copy of the Operators manual from your dealer and read it - cover to cover - before your new toy arrives. It will answer most all important questions. Go slow, be safe with the new tractor.

Congratulations - that is a great tractor.

I flew E's at Pope AFB. I was in the 39 TAS/317 TAW. They were pretty used up when I flew them and only got worse. That just made is become systems experts...lol. We used to keep a list of things that were inop so we knew how to handle the next failure. Things sometimes got complicated. Once I came to Charlotte with the NCANG (156 AS/145 AW), I flew B models. They were there best maintained and best built airplanes I ever flew in the military. But they weren't very capable by today's standards. We got H3's in the Spring of '94. They were great when we got them, but Charlotte have the last one away this time last year. They now fly C-17s. I was too late for Nam, but had my first combat airdrop in Panama. I was lucky enough to be able to fly in everything we did from '89 until I retired in 2014. I loved it. The Might Herk is a great machine no matter what version your talking about.

Great idea and thanks Oosik. I'll see what I can do about getting the manual.
