Jack,

Just want to let you know how appreciative I and others here will be at having a real rep from ANY manufacturer be part of the TBN community. Far too many just "don't want to hear about it" it seems. I hope it won't be all problems though so others may be encouraged to join in as well.

I personally have one of the diesel PTs, so you won't be hearing much more from me. Just wanted to say welcome and hope this sets a new precedent.

Hi Jack !
I became a new owner of a PT422 just about a month ago, it was delivered 17 March '04. I awoke to find a lightly snow covered pick up waiting out front. Smile time of course.
The delivery person ( I think he's a regular for Power Trac ) had to lift the engine cover while the tractor was still on the truck, in order to manually close the choke. I helped because the cover would only raise about 3 to 4 inches. Anyway he unloaded, then thats when he pulled out of his pocket the air cleaner nut. ! ! !
I explained this in an ealier post to help anyone who may have had similar problems. The hair spring which is supposed to make the final closure of the choke, could not do so because the butterfly shaft was too tight in it's bearing surface. I opted to put another coil on that spring rather than remove the shaft for crocusing. It works great but of course it had to be treated as an older style of manual choke. Th e atytached Pic shows how I pulled the spring around one more time.

Me again Jack,
In my learning all about this wonderful posession, I was not at all comfortable with the throttle control, I describe it as" not being in command", which of course can have unforseen consequences.
With enough of the unit open for diagnosis,. I found that as I operated the throttle lever, the inner cable moved about 3/4 of an inch, with no like movement at the carburetor. So I removed the cable from the carburetor, tried again and voila, it moved perfectly. The throttle linkage at the carburetor pivots around a stud and bushing, that whole section is secured with a Nylock nut. Loosening that nut until throttle cable movement was correctly transfered took care of what really was a minor problem. It does feel good to be in command again.
Just hoping I helped someone who may have similar conditions, as an auto service person we used to love these nuts and bolt sessions.
No Problems.
Bill
