I had a 1976 GMC 7000, it was a 29,000 gvw, I think? I would think the 6000 was probably a 26k gvw, but depends upon what it was spec'd with for axels and springs.

The 6000 series GMC typically falls into the class 6 medium duty truck. I had the Chevy version of your truck. They made the suspension in several different GVW weight ratings in both single and tandum axle configurations. On drivers side door jamb there should be a label that has your trucks GVW rating. If you do a google search you will also find some web sites that can de-cifer your vin #. Good Luck!
