Just bought a DK45SE

Hi guys,

I bought a 2009 DK45SE with 200 hours on it, came with forks, box blade, snowblower and a dump trailer... pretty happy of the deal (33000$ cdn)

I had a chinese tractor before (Jinma 284, 28hp) and the 3 pts handles of the DK45SE are different, not sure if I understand them correctly even after reading on and watching video on youtube.

on the chinese tractor, all the way down was the "float" position of the 3 pts handle, middle position was "stay in that position", and between position was to lower/raise the 3pts smoothly

on the DK45S, I have 2 handles, the left one is for the DRAFT (can't understand this feature...), the right handle is to lower/raise but its difficult to do this smoothly...the handle is hard to move. (I guess the lowest setting is the FLOAT ?)

I need exemple to understand the draft correctly... lets make one on a Box blade / scrapper ? (correct me / comments, etc... please!)

I set the right handle on the "#3" position (to not sink too much) and now... how about the draft handle (left one) ? I tried using it but it doesnt seem to make a difference unless I move it up on the 6+ position, then it will raise the 3pts smoothly... so I just let it in the lowest position all the time.

Well, you probably won't be using the draft handle much. It is an automatic height adjustment for the 3ph mostly used for plowing. It will automatically raise the hitch when a certain level of resistance is felt. Put it all the way forward and don't worry about it (for now). To slow the speed of your 3ph, there is a knob basically between your legs "under" the front of your seat.

PS... the 3ph always will float. The lever will set the maximum depth only.

Thanks for the reply, I had forget about the knob for the speed of the 3pts

but still wanting a good example for the draft setting, my 7 foot boxblade can build enough material to make the wheels spin/stop the tractor if I dont raise the 3pts a bit, I would like to use the "draft control" if it can manage this by itself.
right now I set my right handle to the lower setting I want and raise the 3pts with the draft handle because I find the screw stop being really weak and dont want to tighten them too much (its all plastic after all...)

If your tractor has a rear remote lever be sure to keep it in its neutral center position. It does have a detent to lock forward and continued running in this position would smoke the hydraulic system.

Having a draft sensitive 3pt hitch means you can set the draft (hitch pull amount) which will raise the 3pt hitch a bit to transfer weight from the 3pt implement to the tractor and reduce the draft (pull) so the tractor will have enough power and traction to keep moving. When working with the box blade and the tractor starts to spin or lug down raise the "draft control" until the box blade is raise enough to keep going.

Great explanation! I never really understood "draft control" either. You said it well. :thumbsup:

Next time I use the box blade I'll try, but I have the feeling when Ill try to play with the handle of the draft control, Ill have to raise it to the 5-6 point where It just raise the blade all the way up... I'm probably wrong and I'll try step by step slowy moving the handle.

Just picked up my new DK45 today and reading the ops manual and by looking at the tractor the draft sensitive springs are in the bottom of the top link bracket on the tractor. This means that the bottom hole is the most sensitive, the middle a little less and the top hole not at all. The way you explain your tractor the top link is in the top hole so you would not have any usable draft control. By looking at the tractor the bracket hinges at the top and a lever comes off the bottom to activate the hyd.
