Nobody buys a shop, accountancy business, manufacturing unit, etc. without first knowing what they are going to do with the asset. Why do people treat land differently?
They buy it because it’s available, priced within their reach, owning some land represents having a stake in the prosperity of our country, etc, etc.

I don’t like to see large tracts split up into tiny lots for subdivisions 6-10 acre tracts are not much better but they are a little better. It really riles me when real estate brokers advertise a house and 5 acres as “enough room for a horse or some livestock” just because it’s not in the city limits.

Got a trackhoe dropped off Friday. Did a walk around on it Saturday and noticed one of the tracks was pretty worn out.

Well I threw the track 2.5hrs in on Saturday.

Rental company came out and replaced the track this morning. So... I started slinging brush and logs at around 11.

Called it quits at 4pm today. Back at it again tomorrow.

Got quite a bit done today.

I got it pretty well licked out there.

Just gotta swing by the property in the morning and restack a burn pile with the trackhoe. Finish filling it up with fuel and then call it off rent.

Spent the day cutting down stumps. Will pick up the stump grinder next Friday.

I'll get out there Saturday and knock down the weeds and mark the smaller stumps with florescent paint so I won't miss them with the grinder.

Contractors are gonna start hauling shale, as well as run the water line and install the septic.

Ground the majority of stumps last weekend.

To give you an idea of how big the stump is, the stump grinder was 6 to 8' long.

The Baretto stump grinder was a beast. My only complaint was the operator controls for the head. The trigger on the joy stick was awkward to hold and would only control the spin and side to side motion.

After 13hrs on the machine, my hand was pretty much locked up

Contractor started hauling shale yesterday. Has most of the driveway in. Should have the pad done as well today.

Water line and septic will be installed early next week.

Oh man. I know I'm way too late to be helpful now, but I'm curious why you chose to chainsaw and then stump-grind, instead of using that excavator to simply fell the trees, stump and all? For any tree under a foot, its quite easy to just dig out the stump and push the whole tree over in a controlled fashion. Then you cut the stump off with the whole tree up out of the ground. Bigger trees, probably too dicey eh.
