Buying Advice JohnDeere 970

Been lookin at a 970 recently - 2wd canopy has a 4'grooming mower and a push blade (w hydraulics) on front w just over 1000 hrs - Guys asking 7500 for it - wondering if that was a reasonable price --has some scars but all mechanical seems well
Also cant figure out the yr model
Found these #'s on the engine
Engine serial # *CH4045D007070*
Model 4TN82-RJK

The 970 is a great tractor. $7500 doesn't sound too bad. A MFWD model would easily go over $10K.
There should be a plate just above the (rear) PTO shield that lists the tractor's serial number. A Deere dealer can determine the year of manufacture by that number.

I had an 870 for six years and it was an excellent tractor. Mine was 4wd with a loader and did not have a single problem.
