JohnDeere 212
Hi, this is my 1st post. I have a JohnDeere 212 w/ Kohler engine. This year Ive noticed that the motor seemes to overheat after about 20-30 minutes of mowing grass. It dies out and once it cools it starts fine and runs great for another 20-30 minutes. Ive replaced the spark plug, and the fuel and oil are good. Any ideas on this one?

Hello & WELCOME to TractorByNet.com! :)

I have moved your thread to the John Deere Owning/Operating Forum. You'll get a better response there. ;)

You might look at the shrouds covering the cooling fins on the engine, to be sure they are clean underneath. Sometimes debris gets in there (dust, then water mixed in to make mud) or a mouse moves in to set up homemaking.
Fuel supply is another thing to look into. When it stops the next time, remove the fuel cap to see if possibly there is a vacuum because the vent is plugged.
Any other signs that it is heating up? Engine siezed up at all?

johndeerebrian all good ideas especially making sure the shroud area is clean of debris.
I would also suggest verifying the timing.

When was the oil changed last?
