gilson hydro 16
I just bought an old JD 112 with hydraulic lift from my neighbor. The movement of the hydraulics is really slow. Is this normal for JD hydraulics? My Gilson hydraulic lift is powerful enough to clear a plugged snowblower by lifting and dropping the unit. The JD motion is barely perceptible, and you have to watch to make sure it is all the way down.

is it possible you have water mixed in with the hyd oil and going slow during freezing weather?......maybe to wrong hyd oil (too thick).......or have any hoses on the control valve changed recently? (possibly crimped too tight)

Thanks wdchyd,
So you think the hydraulics should actuate more rapidly, like the gilson I have? The hydro fluid is probably 10+ years old.

The speed of the cyl is dependent based on the GPM.

What is your GPM and size of your cyls?

I did not know that JD put hydraulic lift on the old 112's They either had mechanical or electrical lift. If electric lift it was supposed to have some very beefy helper springs to lift the snow blower.

Note: Someone may have added a hydraulic lift.

if i recall correctly it takes about 2-2.5 seconds to lift the snowblower from the ground to the stops.
