Many tractor brands already do have the Skid Steer style QA. And I think that is the point he is trying to make.
I can bring forks or buckets from our skid steers at work home with me and they will fit right on my tractors QA.
That's good and perhaps it will become the standard in the future if all of the FEL manufacturers can get together (or whatever the process is) to decide the best configuration... just as different manufacturers now offer their own versions of 3PHQAs. Having a 3PHQA is a blessing as far as I'm concerned.
As kennyd stated, An "SSQA is an option in the 3-series and larger tractors, so they [JD] have indeed 'gone with the flow'. SSQA does not make sense for the 2-series and smaller machines due to the extra weight and inability to really use any SSQA attachments."
