Many tractor brands already do have the Skid Steer style QA. And I think that is the point he is trying to make.
I can bring forks or buckets from our skid steers at work home with me and they will fit right on my tractors QA.

That's good and perhaps it will become the standard in the future if all of the FEL manufacturers can get together (or whatever the process is) to decide the best configuration... just as different manufacturers now offer their own versions of 3PHQAs. Having a 3PHQA is a blessing as far as I'm concerned.

As kennyd stated, An "SSQA is an option in the 3-series and larger tractors, so they [JD] have indeed 'gone with the flow'. SSQA does not make sense for the 2-series and smaller machines due to the extra weight and inability to really use any SSQA attachments."

I disagree with the "quite a bit" part unless you where to use one of the available adapters on the market as they move the attachment forwards several inches. If converting your H165 to SSQA with the JD "holders" you should see virtually no difference in lift capacity.

According to my dealer, to convert to the SSQA would be a special order and require fabricating so I wonder if that's where I would lose my lift capacity cause there would be a lot more metal and plate.

handy little adapter, i have sold similar on occasion,
but, as others have mentioned, when you put that on a tractor that only has 800 lbs
lift capacity at it's pivot pin, then increase the distance to the load the 4 or 5 inches further froward with the adapter,
then add the additional 135 lbs of the plate.. and oh yea, any bucket or forks are going to weigh more if built for
SSA, so you really can decrease performance in a large percentage on such a setup. on a 400 loader on a 4066R
or even a 3046r loader this isn't as much a reduction in capacity.
they have their place, but at a price, much lower lift performance.

I've got the JD hook and pins on my 4300. got the original bucket plus another three units that replace it, plus a snow plow with power angle. Always thought that it was very easy to whip up another bucket, platform or whatever with the hook and pins,,,,
I often have my wife or some other assistant install or remove the lock pins but I know they would have problems swinging those spring loaded levers...

I definitely understand. The levers surprisingly engage without much trouble.
